Kentucky

I dropped my yearly NCAA Men’s Basketball preview in November, and I usually drop an update in January but I’ve admittedly been slacking.  Check out the latest rankings and who I think has a shot to cut down the net in April.

Ryan Boatwright? Put him on any of these guards and you will see what NBA teams look for in great defense and a good first step. He won the whole darn thing last year.

If Ryan Boatwright was that good, his team would have more quality wins than just SMU… and Purvis carried the load that game. I like Boatwright, he’s been the only consistent player on a mediocre UConn team (there have been stretches where he seems like the only player capable of scoring for the Huskies), but Shabazz Napier put UConn on his back last year. Boatwright is not even on the All-American radar in my opinion. Just off the top of my dome I can mention several guards more deserving (Grant, Russell, Pangos, Payne, Wright, Jones etc).
