Last week, yours truly got invited to a Jabra event promoting the company’s Revo wireless headphones and Solemate speakers at PIPS in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was a well put together event complete with free booze and activities like ping pong and flip cup. Actually, I roasted the Jabra representative there in a game of ping pong. Let’s be real. Really did you think she’d be a match for me when you put a paddle in my hand? DJ All-En1 spun some tunes on the 1s and 2s during the evening that flipped back and forth between modern hip hop and R & B as well as some classics. The nicest touch of the whole event was the fact that The Bushwick Collective was there to customize people’s speakers or headphones. I had Zimad graf up my Revo headphones and I will say that I was extremely pleased. Overall, it was an entertaining party…..but does the product hold up? Read the rest of this entry »
If you’re an athlete of the thrill-seeking variety, chances are you’ve heard about extreme racing. In recent years, hard-core obstacle courses like Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash and The Spartan Race have taken fitness and adrenaline junkies by storm. Gillette Clear Gel is advertised as being built for training and designed with high-performing men in mind. Its triple protection formula claims to provide 48 hours of protection from wetness and odor.
The good people at Gillette sent me a stick of their Gillette Clear Gel Power Rush Deodorant/Anti-Perspirant to try out. Like most men, I’ve been using the same stick deodorant/anti-perspirant for as long as I can remember, so the change to a gel was an adjustment for me. This is my uncut and unbiased review:

Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake performed at Soldier Field last night as part of their “Legends of Summer” tour, and yours truly was in attendance. If you’re thinking of catching one of the remaining shows on their schedule and want to hear what the concert was like, continue reading. If you don’t want any spoilers or simply don’t care what I have to say about this concert, do not read any further. Read the rest of this entry »
There’s no denying that Kanye West is a polarizing figure in the music industry. However, whether you love to hate him or you hate to love him, there is no denying that he usually makes music that everyone will talk about whether the music itself is good or bad. That’s great for record sales but at the end of the day, your output is a musician’s legacy so does Yeezus pass muster? The answer is a resounding Hail No. Read the rest of this entry »
Being a man, there are only a few things that matter in life. Sports, chicks, beer and a good razor. You can deal with your mediocre sports team, an average looking girl, or a so-so beer (as long as it’s cold). But you can’t live with an OK razor.
Our friends at 800razors.com were nice enough to send us some razors to try out and wanted to know how their low-cost razors stacked up to the ones we used. After growing out my “playoff beard”, it was time to shave it off after my beloved New York Islanders were eliminated in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Read the rest of this entry »
The good people over at Tiffen sent us their Steadicam Smoothee for the iPhone 4 and asked us to review it. Unfortunately it has taken a while for this review to go up and I sincerely apologize for the delay.
The Stedicam Smothee is the latest addition to the Steadicam stabilizing arena. From their website the Steadicam Smoothee is “Based on the same technology as the big $60,000 rigs used in Hollywood, the Smoothee allows you to capture incredible video and still images without the shakes normally associated with hand-held video shot on the go, right out of the box, the very first time.” Read the rest of this entry »
TSB gives Evil Dead (2013) 2 out of 5 stars
On Saturday night I returned to the Studio Movie Grill to see the remake of the cult classic horror flick, Evil Dead (the original was released in 1981). I’m not a big fan of remakes, but the movie selection this time of year is pretty slim and it’s been a while since I’ve seen a scary movie. Needless to say, this film did not change my opinion on remakes one bit. (**SPOILER ALERT** this review may contain spoilers. Continue reading at your own risk) Read the rest of this entry »
While mouthguards can help prevent your teeth from getting knocked out, just about every athlete would choose not to wear one if he/she didn’t have to. They dangle them out of their mouths. They chew on them. They stick them in their helmets. Why? Because mouthguards taste gross. They’re flavorless pieces of rubbery plastic. Until now.
The good people at MoGo Sport sent us a few of their innovative flavored mouthguards to try out. The concept is that if a mouthguard tastes good, athletes will actually keep them in their mouths. They come in several varieties including Bubblegum, Lemon, Orange, Mint, Fruit Punch, Winter Frost, and soon to launch Blue Raspberry. For this review, we’ll focus on their original four flavors (Orange, Mint, Lemon, Fruit Punch) and Bubblegum.
Taste (Orange): B+
Taste (Mint): C
Taste (Lemon): B
Taste (Fruit Punch): A+
Taste (Bubble Gum): B
Staying Power: B+
The Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos from Taco Bell are the holy grail of tacos. I did my best not to listen to the hype and chow down with an open mind, and I have to say they are better than advertised. The Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos are better than the Nacho Cheese version. Better than regular tacos. Better than Volcano Tacos. They’re simply awesome.
