Hook’s Week 12 NFL Wrap-Up

November 30, 2010 by

With Week 12 of the NFL season in the books, your fantasy leagues are heading into the final regular season game for 6 team playoff leagues or the second to last game for 4 team playoff leagues.  A lot of teams out there are sitting at 6-6 or 7-5 and absolutely need a W, so this edition of Hook’s NFL Weekly Wrap-Up will focus extensively on the fantasy impacts of Week 12 rather than the outcomes of the games.  If you’re 5-7 or worse, your fantasy season is 99.9% over but you can still save some enjoyment out of Week 13 playing the spoiler role.  Trash talk and side bets are encouraged. Kay Ohhh is gettin' ready to dominate the Rams this week. He's the sole reason that the BRONCOS are TSB's Best Bet for week 12.

Week 12 is already underway with 3 games on Thanksgiving.  If I had no family, OR was a little more dedicated, I would have had picks for those 3 games out on Wednesday night.  But, since neither of those came into play, I’ll just give you TSB’s Expert picks for the games today and Monday night.  With my best week this season (10-5 and winning my Best Bet), I’ve moved to 60-55-1 and 4-5 in Best Bets.  Two weeks in a row over .500, LOOK OUT!

Vikings (-1.5) @ Redskins

For some unknown reason, the Skins play up or down to their competition each week.  So with that you would think that they would get up for this home game and beat the Vikings.  WRONG.  Leslie Frasier is going to have a contract put out on McNabb today.  Finally, a Vikings pass rush. Pick: VIKINGS  RESULT: WIN

This week is Thanksgiving and that means 3 NFL games on Thursday.  So TSB is on point with your Fantasy Football start ’em and sit ’em for this week.  Here at TSB, we are very thankful for all the support we’ve been getting and we wish everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

Hook’s Week 11 NFL Wrap-Up

November 24, 2010 by

As your fantasy regular season is nearing its end, let’s take a look back on Week 11 of the NFL.  Thursday night limped out the gates with a “defensive battle” between Chicago and Miami.  Let’s be honest, the winner of this game was going to be the team that would suck the least.  Miami’s third string QB Tyler Thigpen was under center and looked all of his Madden 2011 rating of 64.  Once Brandon Marshall went down in the 2nd quarter with a hammy injury, you’d figure the Dolphins would put some emphasis on the run…pause… (queue Borat) NOT!  Miami dug their own grave rushing the ball a paltry 7 times (I don’t count Thigpen’s 6 scampers) as opposed to 29 passing plays.  Read the rest of this entry »

Ray Lewis will eat the heart of whoever is starting at QB for the Panthers today. The RAVENS are TSB's BEST BET of Week 11.

Unfortunately, this week we were unable to do the Thursday night Fantasy Football Podcast.  So along with TSB’s “Expert” weekly picks, I’ll also give you our Start ’em and Sit ’em for week 11.

Before we got to the weekly picks, here’s TSB’s Fantasy Football Forecast.

QB Start – Jon Kitna ( Dallas is at home against the Lions and Kitna has thrown for over 300 yds in 2 of his 3 starts.  Last week against the Giants, he threw over 20 passes 20+ yds downfield.  That’s exactly what you are looking for in your fantasy QB)  RESULT: 147 yds 3 TD, 40 rush yds 1 TD

QB Sit – Donovan McNabb (McNabb’s fat is quickly driving his fantasy stock into the ground.  Last week he was absolutely dreadful against the Eagles.  This week, it won’t get any better at the Titans.)  RESULT: 376 yds 1 TD 1 INT

Hook’s Week 10 NFL Wrap-Up

November 16, 2010 by

Week 10 of the NFL season is all wrapped up after the 78 million dollar man got absolutely shown up by Michael Vick and the Filthadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.  As much as I despise Philly teams and the people who root for them, you gotta give props to Vick for the most insane fantasy football performance in recent memory.  We’ll take a quick look at the most interesting games of Week 10, go over our studs and duds and who to look out for on the waiver wire for your fantasy squads.

Jon Kitna is going to be running for his life all day. The NY Giants are TSB's BEST BET for Week 10.

After TSB’s week 9 Bye Week, I’m back and ready to roll.  Coming off my best week (8-5 and a Best Bet winner), I will return to what has been working.  1st thing that comes into my head, that’s what I’m going with.  My overall record is now ony 1 game below .500 at 43-44-1 and my Best Bet record has been raised up to 3-4.

Matty Ice and the Atlanta Falcons took care of Joey Eyebrow and the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.  So obviously I didn’t pick that game.

Bengals @ Colts (-7)

Carson Palmer has been trying to lose every game by himself by throwing it to the other team.  But somehow the other team keeps dropping it, or tipping it to T.O. for TD’s.  Palmer has great looking #’s this year, but they all come in garbage time.  I smell a back door cover here.  PICK: Bengals  RESULT: WIN

Back from our Bye Week, Hook and I get our podcast back on.  From now on, we’re going to shorten the podcast down to about 20-25 minutes.  We are going to go with more straight to the point start em’/sit em’, than going over every one of last week’s studs and duds.  We will continue to give our survivor pool picks, and drop a little knowledge on our new favorite show, AMC’s “The Walking Dead”.

Hook’s Week 9 NFL Wrap-Up

November 10, 2010 by

NFL Week 9 was packed with nail-biters, come from behind victories and overtime thrillers.  3 games went to overtime this week and the team that trailed late ended up winning all of them (Vikings, Jets and Raiders).  Several players solidified their status as fantasy football studs while others failed to produce yet again.

Hook’s Week 8 NFL Wrap-Up

November 2, 2010 by

With 6 teams on bye we had a little less action than usual but the NFL Week 8 games did not disappoint.  We had statement games, a game across the pond, payback games and your season is officially over games.  In the spirit of Halloween, some players rose from the dead to put up huge numbers (thanks for waiting until 40% of owners dropped you to have a big game, Sims-Walker) while others made Hook’s landmines and grenade lists (someone please decipher Randy Moss).  We’re halfway through the NFL season and it’s time to break it down.
