Can Denver Come Through As The “Super Bowl Favorites” Of The NFL?

As the NFL prepares for Week 12, the playoff picture is becoming more and more clear. The Denver Broncos are in the middle of a rough stretch of games, as they take on the New England Patriots this weekend and then go on the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs the following week. However, at 9-1, they have been pegged as Super Bowl favorites by a lot of people. After stumbling out of the playoffs despite a great record last season, can they actually win it all this year?

37 LSU vs 27 TCU, Sat, August 2013
via @Crazy4NYSports

The Game of the week is on at 3:30 EST on ABC between Texas A&M & LSU. Yes I know. Another SEC game? Trust me it will be a great one.

LSU is coming off a huge game where they lost to Alabama. They left everything they had in the tank on the field in the first half and laid a huge egg in the second. They will definitely come back stronger.

This afternoon Peter Gammons, who is a Boston native, was on the Mike Lupica Show on ESPN Radio in New York.  He was on to discuss the Alex Rodriguez situation.  When Gammons started speaking about what he has heard from his New York Yankees on sources  about A-Rod he says, “He wants to blow up the World.  He’s like the Marathon Bombers”.  Uh, Peter?  You might have wanted to choose your words a bit differently.

Thanks to @EliIsElite, we have an audio clip of what was said.

Alex Rodriguez left a grievance hearing at the Major League Baseball office on Wednesday in a huff, after an arbitration officer ruled that commissioner Bud Selig did not have to testify for the player’s attorney.

Rodriguez called his hearing “an abusive process” after storming out of the meeting. The latest bizarre twist in a saga that could end with him facing a 211-game suspension.

According to reports, the third baseman slammed his hand on the table and cursed at MLB’s chief operating officer before storming out of the room.

And he wasn’t finished.

I’ve pretty much given up on the Walking Dead. The writing has gotten better since last season (especially with character development) but is still rife with inconsistencies and holes. The acting is sub par at best. The pneumonia arc dragged on. Now they are giving us a divergent story line. Last week’s episode ended with The Governor looking upon the prison area from the outskirts. However, instead of diving into that (and the whole Rick/Darryl/Carol saga), we the viewers are treated to everything the Governor’s been up to since he went Rambo on most of the citizens of Woodbury to now. His shadow has been looming throughout this season so we knew his comeback was inevitable. A even though we need to know what happened to him during that time span, this season already feels displaced and disjointed because of the decision of traveling back in time and doing the play by play on The Governor for more than one episode.  Read the rest of this entry »

A new winner and a familiar champion end the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

Denny Hamlin won the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday night, but was overshadowed by Jimmie Johnson claiming his sixth NASCAR Sprint Cup title.

Hamlin has had one of the worst seasons of his career, following a crash at the AutoClub Speedway earlier this season was able to capture his first win of the season by holding off Matt Kenseth. The win for Hamlin was able to extend his streak of at least one win in each of his eight full-time seasons.

Kenseth did almost all he could to try to beat Johnson for the title, including leading the most laps, but with Johnsons’s ninth place finish, the title would be his by 19 points. A late race restart nearly spelled disaster for the six time champ, but as he has done on more than one occasion he was able to come back from 20th.  Read the rest of this entry »

Georges St. Pierre is without a doubt one of the best UFC fighters in the history of the sport. Last night’s controversial victory over Johny Hendricks marked his 9th Welterweight Title defense.

After the fight, GSP announced that he’ll be taking some time off from the sport to take care of some business in his personal life. Was that statement the truth, or was it just a nice way of telling Dana White that he’s retiring? Read the rest of this entry »
