Kevin Durant has had a busy couple of weeks.

During this past week, Durant was in New York to partake in a few promotional events. On August 2nd, Durant showed up at Rucker Park and put on a show by dropping 66 points. Yep, that’s one 6 away from the Number of the Beast. Clearly, he sold his soul in order to be this 6’11 freak of nature. The night afterwards, he played in a game whose opposing team had John Lucas III, who happened to score 61 points in trying to upstage Durant. KD was not having it though as he scored 41 and hit the game winning three.
But the more interesting news came to be in the previous week. KD was in China during a promotional tour where he played in a few exhibition games. During one of these games, he took off his jersey. Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Hasib, I don’t know what the big news is here other then the fact that you are displaying some homoerotic tendencies.” Alright, maybe you were not thinking that until I mentioned it but the picture above shows he has….*gasp*…tattoos!!!!

“Big deal, Hasib. Everyone in the NBA has tattoos.” Well, of course. However, not everyone in the NBA has the pristine, wholesome, all-American boy image that Kevin Durant has. A portion of KD’s image was tied to the fact that we thought he didn’t have tattoos and most people ate it up. They loved the tact that he’s not like Allen Iverson, that he’s not a me-first basketball player, and that he’s not a thug. Newsflash!!!! He’s still none of those things. Nothing has changed about who he is before and after this picture. What changed is some people’s perception of him. Those people pointed to those tattoos and how they are conveniently covered up whenever he wears his jersey. Those people set the internet ablaze talking about how KD was not who we thought he was (Peace to Dennis Green). Let me tell you about those people. Those people are idiots.
He’s still the guy with the silky smooth jump shot.

He’s still the guy that is a 6’11 freak that has the game of a swingman.
He’s still the guy that has a nasty crossover.
He’s still the guy that had his mom move in with him during his first year in the NBA.
He’s still the guy that plays the game the right way.
He’s still the guy that did right by his franchise and re-upped with them a year before he turned a free agent when he could’ve pulled a Lebron.
He’s still the guy that brought back the gold medal at the World Championships as THE guy when none of the other studs in the NBA were willing to play for the red, white, and blue.
He’s still one of the most humble basketball players in the NBA. If a guy getting inked up bothers you so much, you need to stop watching sports altogether.
