In what is the most bizarre story that I have read about in a long time, Dennis Rodman visited North Korea last week. He was invited by North Korea’s crazy leader Kim Jong Eun. Rodman is the only American known to ever spend a significant amount of time with Kim.

In a hilarious interview with ABC News, Rodman tells George Stephanopoulos that he considers Kim Jong Eun his “friend’. Rodman said he does not condone the acts of the North Korean leader, but he does consider him his friend. Rodman slurred his words at times, and was extremely hard to understand throughout the interview. He also said in the interview that Kim told him to tell president Obama to call him, and that the North Korean leader “Doesn’t want to do war.”
Nobody really knows how Rodman and Kim became “friends”, but it is known that Kim Jong Eun is a huge basketball fan. While doing research about this topic, I came across an awesome piece by Deadspin.com explaining how North Korea has it’s own way of scoring the game of basketball, and I for one think it would be awesome to see.

That Deadspin piece quoted an old article from San Diego Union-Tribune. “Chinese media report that North Korea has developed its own scoring system for the game: three points for a dunk, four points for a three pointer that doesn’t touch the rim, and eight points for a basket scored in the final three seconds. (This rule is … intriguing? The endings of North Korean basketball games must be cutthroat!) A missed free throw means minus-one point.”
That seems absolutely crazy, games over there must me completely nuts. Eight points if a basket is scored in the final three seconds!? You always have a chance! I am sure this brings some serious excitement to the game. Like Issac Rauch, the writer of the Deadspin piece, points out, it would be very hard to determine whether the ball hits the rim on a made shot at times.

This is an extremely weird story. Of all of the people in this country to send to represent us to the North Koreans, we get Dennis Rodman, he could literally be the last US citizen that I would pick.
