Third race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Are you starting to get use to racing be back on TV on Sundays?

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5 mile asphalt track located about 15 miles northeast of the Las Vegas Strip. While many NASCAR drivers will be hitting the tables during the week, on Sunday afternoon it will be the crew chiefs putting it all on the line to capture the checkered flag. In years past the race has been settled on fuel-mileage.
Last year, defending Sprint Cup champ Tony Stewart made a bold move to take the lead on a late restart and held off Jimmie Johnson for a redemptive win. In 2011, Stewart had an issue on pit road that cost him the win.

Brad Keselowski, the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, will lead the field to green on Sunday afternoon as qualifying for the race was canceled due to rain.
Marie Osmond, who is currently headlining in her own Las Vegas show, will sing the national anthem prior to the race. Coverage for the Kobalt Tools 300 from Las Vegas Motor Speedway begins at 2:30pm EST on FOX. Green flag is scheduled to drop at 3:16pm EST.

My Prediction:

My pick for the Kobalt Tools 500 is Jimmie Johnson. Not only is he the points leader and four time winner of this race, the race is sponsored by the company with their logo on his No. 48 Chevrolet Impala. Having a title sponsor on your car has worked will for Jimmie Johnson in the past, a la Lowe’s Motor Speedway, and we saw last weekend in Phoenix just how well it worked for Carl Edwards. Besides the sponsorship, Johnson holds the record for the most victories at the track and won three consecutive races at LVMA from 2005-2007.
Alright NASCAR Nation it’s your turn to be heard….Who is your pick to end up in Gatorade Victory Lane?
