While the Oregon Ducks football program is getting hit with NCAA probation, many are asking where is Chip Kelly?

The former Ducks coach, Chip Kelly, is currently sitting in Philadelphia collecting on the first of a five-year, $32.5 million contract as the Philadelphia Eagles’ new head coach.
On the other side of the country, Oregon was just hit with three-year probation for recruiting violations committed by–ta-da!–Kelly.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. Most recently, Pete Carroll packed his bags before USC was handed sanctions and we all remember Lou Holtz, yes the commentator, as the expert ship jumper. He went from Minnesota to Notre Dame, Notre Dame to “retirement” and then to South Carolina, and then South Carolina to ESPN.
Kelly was the only one to commit the violations and in the words of the NCAA “failed to monitor the program,” however, he is not the one to stand in front of a room full of boosters and players and have to apologize and answer questions.

While the penalties are light: the loss of two scholarships, a reduction of official recruiting visits from 56 to 37 for three years, a ban on using recruiting services for three years, and an 18 month show-cause penalty for Kelly. Oregon will not miss any bowl games.
Chip Kelly is a cheater. Too bad the actions of one man have to delegate the rest of a football team.
