GIF of the night and maybe the year?:
Tonight’s Raw reminded me of the episode a few years ago when the Nexus debuted. It was one of the most forgettable Raws of the year with one of the most memorable endings of the year. I have more faith in the future of the Shield as singles wrestlers than what became of the Nexus as singles competitors.
Batista quitting came as a surprise to nobody, but Batista does deserve credit for putting over the Shield twice and Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania when you have to assume he wasn’t told that would be the end result when he signed his new contract to come back to WWE.
The opening tag match partners made no sense. The dirt sheets said this week that Cesaro was originally planned to feud for the US title but they were scared of hurting his character. Yea because his character is doing so well off now as it is. Hopefully he wins the MITB briefcase and is able to cash in unlike Sandow, who you can’t help but feel bad for the guy at this point.
Steph McMahon announcing at the MITB PPV (ahem, special event) that Daniel Bryan will either have to face Kane in a stretcher match or the WWE World Heavyweight Title will be up for grabs in the MITB match. I wonder if they still don’t know when Daniel Bryan will be able to return from his neck injury. I think a Title match as the Money in the Bank match would be interesting, but not at the price of it costing Daniel Bryan his run that everyone has been waiting so long for.
Is throwing the steel steps at the opponent’s head John Cena’s new finisher?
The fan reaction during Adam Rose’s match definitely helps his character and hopefully that keeps up because otherwise it isn’t looking good.
The Usos have put themselves in John Cena’s corner and the last time a superstar was aligned with John Cena, it worked out so well for Zack Ryder.
Ziggler and Del Rio was a great match but I really don’t see the advantage of having Del Rio in the MITB match over Ziggler. The fact that Ziggler would be in a ladder match itself makes the match better.
I couldn’t believe that Cody Rhodes didn’t come out himself and turn on Goldust to break them up. Teaming him with Sin Cara couldn’t make less sense, a theme of tonight’s episode.
Rusev’s Russian Hero Award segment may have just topped Ric Flair turning on Evolution as the most forgettable segment of the year. It was a segment of waiting for somebody to come out and interrupt and it just never happened.
I was pissed at first when Rollins turned on the Shield, but all good things must come to an end. I’m nervous that because the Shield went over Evolution twice in a row that this means Triple H is going to go over Roman Reigns at Summerslam. I thought Ambrose would’ve been the one to turn heel out of the group, and at one point thought that both Ambrose and Rollins were going to turn. I don’t think it really matters which one turned heel because they all deserve single runs and most people agree that all 3 will thrive. I hope this is more a just “Rollins turned heel” angle than “Rollins joined Evolution” angle. If it’s a Rollins joined Evolution angle, than we can expect the same ending for the next 8 weeks that we’ve had the last 8 weeks of Evolution beating the Shield.
What else is new?
