Unless you lived in a cardboard box, you know what “50 Shades of Grey” is. If you are a woman, you are extremely excited….probably in your lady parts. If you are a human heterosexual male, you are angry that this is a thing. If you lived inside of a cardboard box, I’m surprised that that actually worked in preventing you from hearing about this abomination. I’m also wondering if cardboard boxes are rent controlled in NYC? How does one go about acquiring one of these things? Simply for the purposes of avoiding “50 Shades of Grey” hype. I mean, even Queen Beyonce of the Bey hive has decided to prop up the trailer on her instagram. So naturally, all the womens are being worked up into a frenzy. If you have interest in the trailer, peep after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
In the second episode of “The Leftovers”, we delve deeper into the psyches of the Garveys and we also are introduced to a new character. However, even though this episode was stronger than the pilot in terms of structure, the slow burn is starting to get to me. Normally, this wouldn’t bother me but none of the lead actors on the show have been strong enough to carry the show so far so I feel like I’m waiting for the story to kick in. Will something happen already? Can I get a pack of wild dogs to start attacking community members? Can I have a round two of the vanishing? Can the Guilty Remnant go Rambo or do something besides chain smoking themselves to Bolivia and trying to turn Liv Tyler into a mute elf? CAN WE GET A BAGEL MACHINE THAT WORKS?!?! Tim Howard isn’t just the hero that America deserves but he’s also the hero that America needs. Unless you aren’t internet savvy, you definitely know about the twitter hashtag #thingsTimHowardcansave. If you don’t, google it. It is the by far the best sports related meme going right now and it was influenced by Howard’s monumental performance in the World Cup in the US vs. Belgium match. There have been many hilarious photoshops that have been done that are based on the meme. Let’s take a look at a few: Read the rest of this entry »
I’m sure that is the advice to viewers if they’re trying to figure out the plot after one episode.
You don’t know how much you miss something until it’s gone. I’m going through that right now. You see, Ramadan just started for me yesterday. I love food….almost to the point where I take it for granted. However, I’m always more appreciative of it during/after Ramadan because it’s not something that I access as much. I also felt that way about TV after Game of Thrones. The summer is usually a terrible time for TV and after Game of Thrones ended, we really ended a great run of television that we probably won’t see for awhile. From Breaking Bad’s 5th season to True Detective’s first season and ending with this past season of Game of Thrones, we’ve been awfully blessed by the TV gods. So after Tyrion went on a killing spree, I had a slight panic attack. What am I going to watch and recap? I went through Orange Is The New Black really quickly but it’s I don’t understand how I’d attack a recap for Netflix shows since they are built for binge watching. Then HBO decided to give me The Leftovers.

Leave it to Game Of Thrones to center an entire episode about the kids on Father’s Day. This is a TV that simply doesn’t play by the rules. “Oh, it’s Father’s Day? How about we use this episode to kill a couple of father figures?” DAMN YOU, BENIOFF AND WEISS. IS NOTHING HOLY?!? Apparently, not on Game of Thrones. On the 10th and last episode of the 4th season, it was all about the kids and letting them get a little bit of satisfaction. Well, except for the Dragons. Read the rest of this entry »
Sorry about the late and short recap but a weekend of Governors Ball left me more fatigued than I thought it would. Anyways, for the 9th episode of the 4th season of Game of Thrones, what did HBO give us? A whole episode that was based on the characters at Castle Black and the Wildlings that were about to wage a battle for it. Does that sound like any episode that we may have seen on this show before? If you guessed “The Battle of Blackwater”, pin a blue ribbon on yourself. If you also guessed that the episode would be focused mainly on Jon Snow and Ygritte, you were partially right…. You’re probably wondering why I’m using that picture up above. I just googled “Ray Allen Dunk 2014 Spurs” and that came up. Look at Ray Allen here! It’s like he’s asking Manu to smell his fingernails. Ewww! That’s pretty filthy. Anyways, in the third quarter of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Ray Allen stole a pass and did something I didn’t think he had in him. He took it down the court and straight yoked it on Danny Green. Check the Vine after the break. Read the rest of this entry »
I know how all of you must feel. If you’re anything like me, than we are all suffering from post traumatic stress disorder in a post-Prince Oberyn world that George R. R. Martin, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have left us in. I haven’t slept since Saturday. I have barely eaten. If anyone touches my head or I feel like they will about to, I spring to an immediate Muay Thai defensive stance. Thanks, Game of Thrones. But because of the internet, we can have our very own alternate universe where Prince Oberyn lives, Tyrion is declared innocent, and all is right with the world! YouTube user Ozzy Man has decided to rework the ending of last week’s episode and give us the closure that we actually need. Read the rest of this entry »
Hold on for just a moment. Just an eency weency bit while a pick the remaining fragments of what used to be my skull off the screen of my television. Why does this show do this to us? It builds us up…..it makes us believe there is justice in the world but at the end we are left either feeling despondent or just laughing at our circumstances like Arya Stark after finding out another one of her relatives has died. I can imagine George R. R. Martin gleefully rubbing his hands together as he kills another character that we’ve grown found of. Hell, Oberyn was starting to become one of my favorite characters until the Mountain treated his head like Gallagher would a watermelon. But that’s one of the driving points of the show….life isn’t always fair. A lot of the time, it can be a brutal lesson in teaching you that whatever can happen probably will. That’s what I like to call the Game of Thrones struggle. Read the rest of this entry »
