The 2016 US election is among us. In the USA, you can’t go a minute on social media without hearing anything about the upcoming election, and the actual voting isn’t going to happen for another nine months! This year we see a combination of candidates like we’ve never seen before. In the right corner, weighing in at around 300 pounds, we have Donald Trump. In the left corner, we see Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. The odds at any online sportsbook are pointing strongly towards Trump winning the primary election for the Republicans, so it’s likely he goes up against Hillary Clinton or Sanders (it’s most likely to be Clinton). The Carolina Panthers are a 5.5 point and -200 (bet $200 to win $100) favorite over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, and rumors are the public thinks they’ll roll.  Anywhere from 70-80% of the money in Vegas is being bet on Cam Newton’s squad.  Maybe you don’t have a rooting interest in either team, though, and want a little more action on the game than your average box pool.  If that’s the case, some of these obscure prop bets are for you. The Denver Broncos come into the Super Bowl with a 12-4 regular season record, and a 2-0 postseason record, putting them at 14-4 on the year. That record is good for the best in the entire AFC, but sadly, in the NFC, their competitors beat them out with a 17-1 total record. The Broncos are a strange team to have in the Super Bowl because throughout the season they haven’t really looked “spectacular”. Their veteran leadership has won them games time and time again, and they’ve barely scathed by a few teams. This quality is what makes them a dark horse with the best Super Bowl odds.

Once upon a time we placed bets and queued up in the dull and funky smelling TAB, where, if the walls could talk, would probably tell many a story, most probably in a witty and long-winded colloquial drawl. Although there is still a huge appeal within this beautifully imperfect community – along with the irreplaceable banter community spirit that the TAB betting scene has to offer, the digital era is well and truly opening betting up to everyone. The joy of digital betting allows everyone from the semi-professions to the occasional flutterer to reap the benefits of real-time betting.

History is cruel. Throughout all 96 NFL seasons only 5 teams have ever made the playoffs after a 0-3 start. This Sunday eight teams with the 0-2 record will do everything they can to make it to the history books and among them are four who were in the playoffs last year – Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts and the Super Bowl runners-up Seattle Seahawks.

Both Seahawks and Colts were mentioned among the Super Bowl contenders prior to the season so they must rise now if they’re still up for a title race. However, the main week 3 game will take place in Texas. It will be the only one featuring two teams with a 2-0 record.
