Huge Week 9 as many favorites fell, leaving newcomers to rise and thrive in college football glory. Going 12-7 Week 9, I was a little bold on my underdog picks. I underestimated the shear strength of Notre Dame and overestimated the power of Florida, hands down. Kansas State, Oregon, and Notre Dame are the only teams that deserve to be in discussion for playing against Alabama (as of right now) for the National Championship. Week 10 leaves a more conservative approach as I don’t see many upsets happening, but some shakeups in the future BCS rankings. Dynastys still alive and well.

Never forget.

A phrase that is being spoken a lot on this 11th year anniversary of 9-11. Never forget the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on that horrific day. Never forget the spirit of the ones that united the United States after the tragedy. Never forget those heroes who braved certain injury and possible death to rescue their fellow citizens. Never forget the thousand of U.S. servicemen and women who will never come home.

Eleven years after those two hijacked planes shattered the peaceful morning in Lower Manhattan, the plane which hit the Pentagon, and the last hijacked plane that was diverted and crashed into a Shanksville, PA field. We remember and never forget.

The writers of Total Sports Blog take a look back and remember where we were on that day and how the events of that horrific day impacted our lives. Read the rest of this entry »

I think I just need to get something off my chest…

This site is dedicated to Sports and Pop Culture.  I know that.  But every day I must walk the “Trail of Tears”, as I call it.  A cattle herd of peope that walk from the World Trade Center PATH Station, to the blocks surrounding my office building on Broadway, downtown NYC.

Other than the fact that since the WTC PATH station has been under construction for about 7 years, forcing my walk to be what seems an extra mile, it’s not that bad of a stroll.

This might sound corny, but the best part about my walk to work  is going through Zuccotti Park.  This was formerly known as Liberty Plaza Park.  There was so much debris from the September 11th attacks, that the park was essentially destroyed.  5 years ago, It was reopened by a privately funded operation, and they did a beautiful job.
