Last night’s Monday Night RAW was pretty decent overall, as the go-home show with Extreme Rules coming up this Sunday. Raw opened with what will easily be one of the top 10 moments on Raw this year with Bray Wyatt and an entire chorus of children singing “He’s got the whole world in his hands” to John Cena. We also had a tag team title match, the finals of the Intercontinental Title Tournament, a final Daniel Bryan/Kane buildup, and the final buildup between the Shield and Evolution that included the return of Ric Flair.

We are two weeks away from Extreme Rules and the card is starting to shape up. It’s nice to see WWE move away from the formula of the pay-per-view, ahem, special event, after Wrestlemania being a bunch of Wrestlemania rematches. This definitely isn’t the case apart from Cena and Wyatt. Tonight was a solid Raw that advanced storylines and had some solid matches.

It was announced and expected coming into tonight, that Raw was going to be a tribute show to the Ultimate Warrior after his passing just days after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. There was a ten bell salute to start the show with a nice video package and throughout the night a number of “Ultimate Moments” were shown.

I started watching WWE again in January 2008 and don’t think I’ve been as entertained with WWE as I have been the last 2 days. Apparently the American public agrees with me. Last night’s Raw had the highest TV rating since July 2012. Wrestlemania 30 and the Raw after were both great shows and tonight we had Main Event. The only match announced for tonight was The Shield vs. The Wyatt’s.

In recent history, the Raw after Wrestlemania has been better than Wrestlemania itself, and it was going to be pretty tough for Raw to top it last night. People are already buzzing saying it’s in the category of top 5 Wrestlemanias of all time. Last night seemed like a turning point with Bryan winning the titles, the streak ending, Cena’s character seeming stale in a win over Bray Wyatt, and Cesaro winning the first ever Andre the Giant battle royal among other things. WWE continued this trend tonight and Raw definitely lived up to the expectations.

Wrestlemania 30 is off to a flying start, with Daniel Bryan defeating Triple H in the opening match. As you can see in the GIFs below, Triple H seemed to be all set up for the “Pedigree”, but Bryan somehow reversed out of it and took down “The Game”.

After the match, Stephanie McMahon got into the ring to slap Bryan around, and in the process distracted him enough for Triple H to attack Bryan with a chair.
