The Saints beat the Colts 62-7, solidifying Peyton Manning QB IND as the 2011 NFL MVP without ever playing a snap. When the football pundits said Indianapolis was a 1 man team, they were right. It just goes to show you how important the QB position is in the NFL and why these guys make twice as much as any player. Look for the Colts to have their eyes set on Andrew Luck in the 2012 draft, regardless of Manning’s health situation. Even if the kid never plays a snap, the insurance is necessary.

We had some blowouts this week, and I’m not just talking about Tim Hightower’s RB WAS ACL. Let’s take a look at the Studs from Week 7
Week 7 Fantasy Studs

1. Drew Brees QB NO 325 passing/5 TDs, could have been more if they didn’t start running the ball
2. Arian Foster RB HOU 234 total yards/5 rec/3 TDs

3. DeMarco Murray RB DAL 253 rushing/1 TD
4. Matt Forte RB CHI 183 total yards/1 TD
5. Adrian Peterson RB MIN 175 rushing/1 TD, the only reliable weapon on a bad team
6. Darren Sproles RB NO 107 total yards/6 rec/2 TDs
7. Marques Colston WR NO 7 rec/98 yards/2 TDs, proved me wrong with back to back stud performances
8. Greg Jennings WR GB 7 rec/147 yards/1 TD, put the team on his back
9. Plaxico Burress WR NYJ 4 rec/25 yards/3 TDs, cheddar bob finally showed up for NY
10. Kansas City DST 0 PA/1 sack/6 INT/2 TD Oakland looked absolutely terrible
Honorable Mention: Ben Roethlisberger QB PIT, Aaron Rodgers QB GB, Mike Wallace WR PIT, Micheal Jenkins WR MIN, Calvin Johnson WR DET, Steve Smith WR CAR
When there are several blow-outs, there are just as much duds as studs. Here’s the guys who did not bode well in Week 7
Week 7 Fantasy Duds
1. Oakland QBs (Carson Palmer, Kyle Boller) combined 275 passing/6 INT (3 each)/0 TD, both had negative points
2. Darren McFadden RB OAK 7 total yards/0 TD, sprained foot (bye week coming at best possible time for Oakland)
3. Earnest Graham RB TB 11 total yards/0 TD, torn achilles, out for the year
4. Chris Johnson RB TEN 45 total yards/6 rec/0 TD, trade him for whatever you can get
5. Matt Hasselbeck QB TEN 104 passing/1 TD/2 INT, Houston put a hurting on Tennessee this week
6. Miles Austin WR DAL 2 rec/16 yards, still not 100% as far as injuries/health goes
7. Philip Rivers QB SD 179 passing/1 TD/2 INT, Jets defense in midseason form, if your QB goes against them look for other options
8. Rashard Mendenhall RB PIT 37 total yards/0 TD
9. Matt Cassel QB KC 161 passing/2 INT/0 TD, in a game where defense dominated he failed to put anything together
10a. Tennessee DST 35 points allowed/0 defensive statistics tallied (-4 points in standard scoring)
10b. Indianapolis DST 56 points allowed (pick 6 doesn’t count against them)/2 sacks, biggest beat-down of the season.
UPDATE: The entire Ravens offense deserves to be on this list due to the pitiful performance on MNF VS the Jaguars. Joe Flacco QB BAL 137 yards/1 TD/1 INT, Ray Rice RB BAL 63 total yards/0 TD/1 FL
Some of these duds were so bad that if you were unfortunate enough to own more than one of these players in your league, you may have recorded the worst fantasy score ever. Now onto the best pickups/drops available
Must Add: DeMarco Murray RB DAL (told you so), Delone Carter RB IND, Michael Jenkins WR MIN (Ponder seems to have found a friend), Alfonso Smith RB ARI (Beanie Wells sprained his knee, if serious this guy could get serious carries), Ryan Torain RB WAS (starting with Helu RB WAS as backup for rest of the season), Kregg Lumpkin RB TB (bye week next week, but should start Week 9 if Blount RB TB is still out)
Must Drop: Earnest Graham RB TB (torn achilles, out for year), Hines Ward WR PIT (undisclosed injury), Tim Hightower RB WAS (knee injury, possibly torn ACL), Santana Moss WR WAS (broken hand), Tashard Choice RB DAL (DeMarco Murray RB DAL solidified his role as THE guy in Big D),
Keep an Eye On: Antonio Brown WR PIT, Bernard Scott RB CIN, Roy Helu RB WAS, Lance Ball RB DEN
BUY: Ryan Torain RB WAS, Aaron Rodgers QB GB, Cam Newton QB CAR, Drew Brees QB NO, Adrian Peterson RB MIN, Fred Jackson RB BUF, Jimmy Graham TE NO, Arian Foster RB HOU, Steve Smith WR CAR
SELL: Chad Ochocinco WR NE, Chris Johnson RB TEN (whatever 2nd or 3rd round talent you can get for him, take it), Rashard Mendenhall RB PIT, Peyton Hillis RB CLE (Madden curse is real), Felix Jones RB DAL (even when he comes back I think Murray RB DAL will be the guy),
HOLD: Terrell Owens WR FA (can’t believe I have to mention this guy, but his workout supposedly went well. If he gets picked up by TEN, pick him up), Matthew Stafford QB DET (hope the injury isn’t bad)
That’s about it for Week 7. Baltimore is struggling early VS Jax, but my other two survivor picks were very safe bringing me to (UPDATE: Baltimore loses) 16-2 on the year. Looking forward to Week 8 there are a ton of trap games so you’ve got to go with the sure thing. New Orleans will not lose to St Louis. Print it. I like San Francisco at home over Cleveland and Carolina at home over Minnesota (yes we Cam).
Keep checking back every week for your fantasy football info, and be sure to check out Hook VS Earl NFL Picks VS the Spread every week. I’ve been on fire the last two weeks (11-2 week 6, 9-3-1 Week 7) as I’ve gotten a pretty good feel for the matchups. Good luck next week.
