Friday Night the Chicago Blackhawks set a new record for the most consecutive games with gaining at least one point in the standing to start a season. They have gone 17 games without a regulation loss. This breaks a record that the Anaheim Ducks set in the 2006-2007 season.

The Blackhawks have a record of 14-0-3 and their three OT losses have come in the shootout to the Minnesota Wild, Vancouver Canucks and the Anaheim Ducks. The four teams that have held this record before have gone on to win the Stanley Cup. With the shortened season and only a week of training camp, this start and record are even more impressive. Only a handful of guys on the Blackhawks were playing hockey in the AHL or overseas. The Blackhawks look to extend their record on Sunday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
