The Fastest Faux 40′s at the NFL Combine

The coverage surrounding the NFL combine this year has become as out of control as JaMarcus Russel’s waist line. I don’t even NFL beat writers on Twitter, but TSB’s time line was flooded over the weekend with RT’s of prospect’s 40-yard dash times.   To be honest, I’m not really that impressed with a 300 lb lineman running a 4.65 40-yard dash.  How much does LeBron weigh these days?  275?  285?  And he probably runs a 4.3 40.

What did impress me this weekend was the fun that TSB follower @TheHappyRecap had with the combine insanity:

Think I’m going to starting making up names of fictitious NFL Draft prospects and post fake 40 times for them, since no one cares anyway.

Gustavo Fring (WR) from ASU has opened a lot of eyes after running a 4.31 40M at the combine, also an All American Academic in Business. — E.J. (@TheHappyRecap) February 24, 2013

Princeton QB Gregory House opened a lot of eyes at the combine running a 4.38 40M, showing no after effects of his bout with Lupus. — E.J. (@TheHappyRecap) February 24, 2013

In the surprise of the day, University of Hawaii’s Hugo Reyes has not arrived at the Combine yet, agent reports he got lost on the way.

Ned Stark (Westeros Junior College) runs a 4.39 40M, raising his stock on the draft board. Detractors wonder if he can keep a cool head.

University of Miami’s RB James Doakes is always impressive, running a 4.27 40M. Scouts call him the most explosive player in the draft. — E.J. (@TheHappyRecap) February 24, 2013

Buzz around the combine surrounding Syracuse QB Don Draper, who was arrested last night for presenting false identification to an officer. — E.J. (@TheHappyRecap) February 24, 2013

Despite questions about his partying lifestyle, Vito Spatafore (RB, Rutgers) is likely to be a 2nd round pick if he isn’t beaten out.

If you have any “observations” from the combine, please feel free to pass them along to us on Twitter @ttlsportsblog or drop them in the comment section below.
