It was always a longshot, but after her performance at the Regional Combine at the New York Jets’ facility Sunday, female kicker Lauren Silberman’s chances of making the NFL are probably now zero.

Saturday, I posted a piece about Silberman attempting to become the first female NFL player. In that piece, I wrote that Silberman’s chances are very slim, but I thought that maybe this would push other female athletes to tryout. Well, after her performance on Sunday, female athletes may be less likely to try out.
Silberman reportedly had two kickoffs, one that traveled 19 yards, and the other 13 yards. After that, she called over the trainer and did not preform for the rest of the day due to a right quadriceps injury. Silberman wanted to attempt to finish her workout, but after some deliberation, everyone decided it was best if she called it good for the day.

Hopefully, she gives it another chance next season, and is fully healthy, to show the NFL scouts what she really has to offer. I trust this is not the last that he hear from Lauren Silberman, and if it is, I hope she gave other female athletes the push they needed to put themselves out there and tryout.
