“The Return of Peyton Manning to Indianapolis” story that will eat up the media coverage until the game on Sunday Night Football has taken a sour, snippy, soap-opera turn and before it gets better, Jim Irsay has to inset his foot into his mouth.

It’s on. It’s sooooooo on now!
We still have four days until Peyton Manning will return to his original NFL home as a horse of a different color. And it seems before the Manning can take care of business on the field, he has to listen to the drama his former owner says off the field. In an interview to USA Today, Irsay seemed to denigrate Manning’s accomplishments in Indianapolis since he only won one Super Bowl. Kind of lowers the sincerity level of the Colts’ since the team plans on honoring Manning prior to kick off, doesn’t it? At least John Fox, the Denver Broncos Coach, has Manning’s back.

In an interview with Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Fox said, “I saw the comments and to be honest with you I thought it was a bit of a cheap shot. To me, in my opinion, they were disappointing and inappropriate. I mean, Peyton would never say anything. He’s too classy to do that. But they sounded a little ungrateful and unappreciative to me for a guy that has set a standard, won a Super Bowl, won division titles, won four MVP awards. I’d be thankful with that one Super Bowl ring because there’s a lot of people that don’t have one.”
Kudos John Fox!

Wonder why Irsay wants to rehash the past? Instead of being frustrated by having won only one championship with Manning, Irsay should kiss the ring he does have and remember Manning is the man who delivered it.
This is all fuel for Manning for Sunday night! Be warned, Irsay and the Colts! Be warned.
