According to multiple news outlets, Heisman trophy-winning Free Seafood University FSU quarterback Jameis Winston was cited for shoplifting $32.72 worth of seafood at Publix grocery store in Tallahassee, Florida Tuesday night. Among the items allegedly shoplifted were crab legs and crawfish.

Police arrived at Winston’s door later that night and the 2 sport star claimed he “forgot” to pay for the produce. Ahh… the old “I forgot” excuse. Works every time.
Authorities say Winston was very cooperative as he was issued a civil citation. His lawyer released the following statement on Winston’s behalf:

I went to the supermarket with the intent to purchase dinner but made a terrible mistake for which I’m taking full responsibility. In a moment of youthful ignorance, I walked out of the store without paying for one of my items.
Winston will likely have to pay the $32.72 to Publix along with the 20 hours of community service that go along with his citation. FSU suspended him from the baseball team on Wednesday. There has been no word on whether or not Winston ate the seafood in question, but sources have confirmed that Publix’s defense has been rated higher in polls than Auburn going into the 2014-2015 season.
