In the second race of the 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup, NASCAR heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Formerly New Hampshire International Speedway, the track is a 1.058 mile oval speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire and has been hosting NASCAR races since the early 1990s. The track is also one of a few on the circuit that is nicknamed, which is “The Magic Mile.”
Last year in this race, Tony Stewart won the race in a dramatic reversal of fortune and grabbed a seven-point lead in the Cup standings when Clint Bowyer ran out of fuel with three laps to go. In 2010, Stewart led last year’s Chase race at the Magic Mile but handed the victory to Bowyer when he ran out of fuel on the last lap. With the victory in 2011, Stewart was definitely considered a favorite for the Cup after denouncing himself days before in Chicago.
