09-24-12-Media-Day-Kurt-Busch-InterviewThree races into the season and NASCAR lifted the suspension for Kurt Busch after an alleged domestic violence incident. NASCAR has granted him a waiver to remain eligible for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Stewart-Haas Racing executive vice president Joe Custer issued a statement welcoming the 2004 champion back to the team. Busch will return to the No. 41 car this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.

Kurt Busch now will undergo additional steps to address the behavior for which he was penalized. Read the rest of this entry »

635601123480354330-USP-NASCAR--Daytona-500-PracticeWhile the fate of Kurt Busch for 2015 is still up in the air following his indefinite suspension, we do know one thing about the No. 41 Chevrolet.

Regan Smith, who had a solid 16th place finish in Sunday’s Daytona 500, will again drive the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

SHR also said in the news release that a driver to replace Busch for the following weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and beyond has not been determined.  Read the rest of this entry »

NASCAR’s premier series heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend.

3 weeks after the worst kept secret was revealed, the rest of the secret has come out.

“Surprise!” Edwards said as he walked onstage for the announcement. “Matt told me to say that.”

Carl Edwards, who is leaving Roush-Fenway Racing after the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, will race for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2015.

Edwards will drive for a new fourth team at JGR and will join a driver stable that includes Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Matt Kenseth.

Gone are the days of helmet throwing and akward gestures to other drivers following an on-track incident.

On Friday morning, NASCAR officials announced a new addition to the rule book prohibiting drivers from exiting their cars and going on the track surface to approach another car after being involved in an incident.

The change comes after last Saturday night’s on track incident involving Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward, Jr.

2013 Camping World Truck Bristol

Two big announcements coming out of the Wood Brothers Raicng shop based out of Stuart, Virginia, on Thursday afternoon.

WBR has announced they will form a technical alliance with Team Penske, another Ford Motorsports racing team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and they have hired young driver Ryan Blaney to run a partial Sprint Cup schedule for the No. 21 team in 2015.

Blaney, the son of NASCAR driver Dave Blaney, will run at least 12 Sprint Cup races, which will be sponsored by Ford Motorcraft and Quick Lane divisions. Read the rest of this entry »


Sometimes the sports world has to stop and realize that there is more to life than a stick, a ball, or even a racecar.

On Wednesday afternoon the NASCAR community did just that as Martin Truex, Jr’s longtime girlfriend, Sherry Pollex, announced that she had ovarian cancer and would undergo surgery on Friday.

Pollex has been with Truex for nine years, and has been by his side through one of his two NASCAR Nationwide Series Championships, two NASCAR Sprint Cup wins, three different NASCAR teams, and the start of their foundation, The Martin Truex Jr Foundation.

The foundation raises money for programs for children with cancer.

She is also a well-known member of the NASCAR community, as her father owned PPC Racing, a team that won the 2000 NASCAR Nationwide Series title with driver Jeff Green Read the rest of this entry »

Kevin Ward Jr.

On Saturday night, Tony Stewart did what he so often does. He competed in a Sprint Cup race. But according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Department, Stewart struck and killed a fellow driver at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park.


It shows Stewart’s #14 car nudge driver Kevin Ward Jr.’s car into the wall shortly after going around a turn. Ward gets out of his car and walks down into the middle of the track to confront Stewart while the cars were still driving under caution.

With Steve Letarte moving on from racing in 2015, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and the No. 88 Sprint Cup Series team were looking for a crew chief.

On Monday afternoon, they found one and they didn’t even have to look very far.

Crew Chief Greg Ives will stand in the pit box next year and direct Dale Jr to victory.

Per the announcement made on Hendrick Motorsports website, Ives, was a race engineer for Jimmie Johnson during his historic run of five consecutive Sprint CUp championships.  Read the rest of this entry »
