The King and his race team do have their hands full this season. After finishing 18th and 20th for Marcos Ambrose and Aric Almiorla in the 2012 Sprint Cup Series Standings, both look to be on the same path this year. Both will have their tracks that they will stand out but both will struggle a lot most likely won’t visit victory lane.

Aric Almiorla has turned into a pretty good restrictor plate racer. Ambrose has also but Almiorla seems to be always towards the front and sometimes is in contention to win or push others to the win and at the end. Aric could pull some good starts and finishes out of the air and especially with the Gen 6 car, its not sure how things will shake out with any driver.
Marcos Ambrose will be tough on the road courses and usual and also will be competitive on the restrictor plate tracks as well. Ambrose has become a good Sprint Cup driver but he hasn’t be able to get over that hump to be a championship contender. Not sure how he would be on a different team but for now hes a 20th place driver.

The merger with Penske Racing to the Ford camp will help Richard Petty Motorsports because it will add another organization that could provide information to make things better. So that could only benefit teams like Richard Petty Motorsports that get their equipment from Roush Engines.
