Three races to go until the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crowns a champion and with a very close points race, it could be decided on the final lap at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This NASCAR season sure has flown by.

Instead of talking Homestead in a few weeks, let’s concentrate on this weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway.
Martinsville Speedway is located in Ridgeway, Virginia, just south of Martinsville. It is a 0.526 mile track, the shortest in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The track itself is a combination of asphalt/concrete with 12 degrees of banking. After last weekend’s events at Kansas Speedway, expect a lot of retaliation this weekend.

Aside from the excitement of the race being at Martinsville this weekend, there is another news as Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is back. Earnhardt, who sat out the past two races following a concussion suffered at Talladega Superspeedway, has been medically cleared by his neurosurgeon to compete.
Last year, Tony Stewart passed Jimmie Johnson on the final restart with three to go and never looked back. The win was Stewart’s third in the Chase and vaulted him into second place in the standings. With the victory, Stewart would tell the media that He(Edwards) should be worried. Edwards was the leader of the points at the time.
