November has come and gone.  Here are twelve news and notes from the Big 12 men’s basketball conference.

  • The Big 12 won its 2,000th non-conference game with Texas Tech’s win over Nebraska-Omaha on Nov. 14. In 16+ seasons, the league boasts a record of 2,021-707 (.741) versus schools outside the Big 12.
  • The Big 12 opened the season with a 14-0 record before dropping its first game of the year.
  • All but one team in the Big 12 has a .600 or better winning percentage (90 percent).
  • Every Big 12 team is holding its opponents to 67.0 points per game or less. Five squads are holding foes below 60 points per contest.
  •  At least one Big 12 school has been ranked every week in league history – a span of 311 consecutive weeks.
  • When Oklahoma and West Virginia faced each other in the third-place game at the Old Spice Classic, it marked just the second time in Big 12 history that two league squads met in a non-conference regular season contest (Texas vs. Nebraska, 11/23/96).
  • Baylor snapped Kentucky’s 55-game home winning streak and handed John Calipari his first home loss at UK. The Bears also posted their first non-conference road win over an Associated Press top 25 team in program history.
  • ISU has won 12 in a row at Hilton Coliseum, tying for the sixth-longest streak in school history. The Cyclones are 5-0 when leading at halftime this season and 5-0 when scoring 80 points or more.
  • Kansas has won 25 consecutive games at Allen Fieldhouse, matching the seventh-longest streak in school history. The Jayhawks have started 6-1 or better overall for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.
  • K-State captured the first win in program history at Madison Square Garden with the victory over Delaware. The Wildcats had lost the previous five games they played in the arena, dating back to 1948 Final Four.
  • Head coach Lon Kruger earned his 500th career victory with the win over Northwestern State.  In his 27th year on the college sidelines, he ranks 18th on the list of winningest active head coaches.
  • Oklahoma State has held five of six opponents to 65 points or less and four of its foes to under 40 percent shooting. The Cowboys also lead the Big 12 in free throw percentage with a .785 mark.
