Marc Gasol’s game was transformed immensely since he entered the league in the 2008-2009 season.

Gasol started out as just a big body off the bench, and has turned into the Defensive Player of the Year and an NBA All-Star.
He has developed a sweet midrange jump shot, some solid post moves, and a basketball IQ that is higher than any other center’s in the NBA.

While his transformation on the court has been remarkable, it fails to scratch the surface in comparison to the transformation in his appearance.
Gasol went from the giant chubby high school look, to the Geico caveman look, to the giant, normal person look. Talk about an awkward stage. But then again, who cares what you look like when you average 26 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 blocks per game during that stage.

There is a reason Grizzlies’ power forward Zach Randolph was quoted earlier in the post season saying, “we crack jokes sometimes about what he used to [look like] in high school.”
At least Marc didn’t go through the same “Slim Shady” phase that his older brother Pau went through in high school.
