Former Patriots Tight End (he was released earlier today) Aaron Hernandez has been charged with murder, ESPN and other news outlets report. This is an update to an earlier story here on TSB comparing Hernandez to Rae Carruth.

While it was at first assumed that he was being charged with abstruction of justice, we now know this is far more serious. Hernandez has been charged with murder and weapons counts in connection with the slaying of Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player whose body was found in an industrial park about a mile from his home.
Now that Aaron Hernandez has been officially charged with murder, it’s looking more and more like he’s headed down the Rae Carruth path.
