The Denver Nuggets and head coach George Karl have decided to part ways, even after Karl won the 2012-2013 Coach of the Year Award.
Karl, who was entering the final year of his contract, wanted a long-term extension and the Nuggets front office was not ready to commit to Karl long-term.
Karl had been the coach of the Nuggets for the last 9 seasons, and never had a losing record as a head coach. He led the Nuggets to the Northwest Division Title three times during his tenure, and never finished below second.
However, Karl was only able to lead the Nuggets out of the first round of the playoffs once throughout his 9 years there.
Karl is a very good coach, and will most certainly have job options available to him whenever he decides he wants to return to the bench.
