I don’t know if I can handle living in a world where both the Giants and the Steelers have started off 0-3. I don’t give a crap about the Steelers but the Giants are my team. While I did not have high hopes for this season (I predicted they would go 8-8), I did not expect them to start 0-3 and not only lose to the Panthers but lose 38-0? What the hell was that? I did not watch the game but I can only assume that it involved Eli Manning throwing passes, having the ball miss receivers and then Manning would look dumbfounded and shake his head while saying “Aw, shucks.” Don’t get me wrong I love Eli, but he has some of the most hilariously stupid faces when things aren’t going well. Can the Giants turn it around? I don’t know, they have a crappy defense, no running game, and the passing game isn’t what it should be. I assume they will win a game eventually but they may be due for a really awful season. If that’s the case then we might finally see the end of the Tom Coughlin era. It’s been a great run but the team and his blood pressure might need it to end soon.

My Picks (LOL)
We here at Total Sports Blog have a weekly pick’em league and this week I had a disaster of a week. I blame myself for trying to get cute with some picks. Right off the bat I lost with the Giants and the Steelers. I thought they were both due and they both got destroyed. Good times. For the third straight week I picked the Buccaneers, who look like the biggest disaster in football (Giants are a close 2nd). I also picked the Jaguars and Raiders to lose by less than 19 and 14 points respectably and well that didn’t quite work either. So ends my two week reign of being kind of decent at picking games.

Unprotected Picks
Only six games left in the Mets 2013 campaign and fans are rooting for losses? That’s what I keep seeing on the twitter anyway and it’s kind of obnoxious. The running theme here is that the Mets need to finish with a bad enough record to be one of the top 10 worst teams and be granted a protected 1st round draft pick in next years draft. Some are complaining that if the Mets don’t have a protected draft pick then Sandy Alderson will use that an excuse to not sign any free agents this offseason. 1) Whoever they draft in the first round won’t be of use to them until 2017 or later and the hope is that the team is competitive starting next year. 2) Alderson is not dumb enough to just burn a draft pick and any old player, it’s going to be someone who is going be a long term piece of the puzzle. And 3) Last year when the Mets didn’t sign Michael Bourn it wasn’t because of losing a draft pick it was because he’s not worth the fucking money/years! Regardless this will be a very interesting and telling offseason in Metsland. In the meantime just win some damn games so I can hate myself less going into the offseason.

I’m for some reason furious that they are coming out with a Metallica movie that looks like it consists of Metallica playing music over a riot…that may or may not have been caused by Axl Rose. Because he causes every riot ever. I’d boycott this movie but I’m probably too lazy. Also Lars Ulrich might be the most annoying person ever since he told people that downloading music was not cool. Some rebel.
