Some minor spoilers and all that (WARNING)

So I decided to do a movie review, because why not? I went to go see Thor: The Dark World last night. The first Thor movie was good but not great, I was largely unimpressed. I see Thor as a character that can only have so many cool things to do before you’re like “Okay, I am done with this guy.” But I have to say this movie is pretty damn awesome.
From the beginning of the film it’s actually exciting and engaging while also including a few scenes that made me laugh out loud like a maniac and cause several people to demand their money back. At no point did this movie suck, and probably one of the coolest things in this film was the fact that Loki (Played by Tom Hiddleston) plays a sneakily awesome role in this film. First he’s kind of in the background as the douche that no one likes and then Thor (SPOILER) actually breaks Loki out of superjail or whatever the hell it is called and uses him to get him out of Asgard and go after the main villain of the film Malekith. Malekith (Played by Christopher Eccleston) gets awakened because that dumb bitch Natalie Portman stumbles upon some goo that gives him power and he wants to use that goo to make the universe really dark…or something. I didn’t quite get what he was trying to do but I approved of his effort and he and his goons were pretty scary looking bad guys. Thor and him have a pretty solid fight that causes lots of property damage but thankfully it takes place in England so it’s not as upsetting. Also both of them are courteous enough to not start fighting until all the civilians run for cover unlike Superman and Zod in “Man Of Steel”.

Chris Hemsworth was once again awesome as Thor, though with his facial hair he his kind of becoming hipster Thor. Natalie Portman was ok as Jane Foster, I cringed a bit seeing her slap every character in the movie 3 times for no reason at all. Anthony Hopkins is once again excellent as Odin even though you can tell he really hates lugging around that costume. And a special shout out to Rene Russo who plays Frigga, Thor’s mother. She was pretty much useless in the first movie and then all of a sudden becomes a badass in this movie and probably a better sword fighter than any other character. Kat Dennings who is hot as balls, intentionally dresses down in this movie so Natalie Portman can look somewhat attractive. Her character is kind of a annoying but also somewhat important…I guess. She’s joined by some doofy intern who I’m pretty certain has super powers that aren’t explained and Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) who spends most of the movie pantsless. There are also a few cool cameos by Captain America (Chris Evans) and Benecio Del Toro who plays “The Collector” who is the main bad guy in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie that no one is going to see.
My Rating: 9/10 Go see this shit.
