MusclePharm’s pre-workout product is called Assault. Assault comes in several flavors such as fruit punch, raspberry lemonade, blue raspberry, etc. In my own search for my favorite pre-workout, I came across MusclePharm Assault. I have used this product several times and have tried most of their flavors. After trying it, I formed by own opinion about it. When I look for pre-workout I look at 3 things. Effectiveness- how much it helps your workout. Taste- the flavor and how “natural” it tastes. Pretty much how much you enjoy drinking it. Side effects- does it give a head ache or stomach pain? I did my ratings on a scale of 1-5.

Assault does provide the needed energy to get through your workout. It gives you that extra jump you need to want to workout and push yourself at the gym. I could definitely tell the difference after taking it. While lifting, your energy lasts for longer periods of time and can be effective.

Some flavors taste much better than others, so it would be wise to try some flavors and see which ones you like the most. For example, I found that raspberry lemonade is much better than orange mango. I’ve also noticed it doesn’t dissolve in water as well as other products. There were chunks of powder even after shaking the product in the recommended amount of water. As far as overall taste goes, it is pretty sweet. For myself, it was a little too sweet for my liking.

It could just be me, but the side effects I received from Assault was pretty bad. I got a stomach ache off of the product. I felt nauseous about half way through my workout almost every time. I had to let it run through my system before the side effects wore off. It also provided me with a slight headache. I have experienced worse headaches with other products.
Overall: 3/5
I gave it a 3 because I don’t believe this is bad product, but I wouldn’t use it again. The side effects were too great for me to continue to use the product and I wasn’t a fan of the taste. Although, everyone is different so side effects may vary between consumers. Overall it gets the job done , if you like the sweet taste and don’t receive any side effects, then I would use this product.
