FitBit Recalls The FitBit Force

I received an email today from FitBit stating that the FitBit Force, which I purchased back in November and was a big fan of, has been recalled.  Here is the statement sent out by FitBit:

The Fitbit Force Activity-Tracking Wristband, which is being voluntarily recalled by Fitbit, Inc. in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Users can develop allergic reactions to the stainless steel casing, materials used in the strap, or adhesives used to assemble the product, resulting in redness, rashes or blistering. Consumers should stop using the Fitbit Force Activity-Tracking Wristband and return the product to Fitbit for a full refund. Please open the attached document for the official press release. For additional information regarding this product recall, click here.

Bummer.  I really liked the FitBit Force.  I’ve been using it for 4 months and had nothing but good things to say about it.  I can attest firsthand that I have not experienced any redness, rashes, or blistering, but I won’t be taking any chances.  I’ve stopped wearing it and began the process to send it back to FitBit for the $140 refund they are offering.  After clicking the link, you’ll be directed to a form that you will need to fill out in order to have FitBit send you a return kit.  Seeing that the FitBit Force retailed for $129.99 and that I got 4 months use out of it, I’m more than happy to take the $140 check.
