MTV’s The Challenge: Free Agents Fantasy Draft

TotalSportsBlog 9 years ago 5 Min Read

MTV’s The Challenge: Free Agents premieres tonight with “Live Free or Die”. There are many familiar faces this season, along with a few first timers sprinkled in.

This season, the theme is Free Agents. There are no teams, and it’s every man/women for themselves. 14 girls and 14 guys will be eliminated by battling it out in an elimination challenge, that is chosen by a draw at the end of each episode. Alliances won’t get you by this time. The only way to get to the finals is to survive and advance.

Last season, we did our first MTV Challenge fantasy league and had a blast with it. A few years back in a Bill Simmons article on Grantland.com, the Grantland staff decided to hold a “Reality TV Fantasy League”. I thought the concept was fantastic and wanted to adopt it and bring it to TSB.

The way this works is that 7 members of TSB participated in a fantasy football style snake draft. The TSB Crew had their names selected in a random order to generate picks 1 through 7. Then after the 7th pick, the order was reversed so that the person with the 7th pick would also have the 8th pick and so on. After the order was set, each person was required to draft two guys and two girls.
