Uncut & Unbiased: Fruit of the Loom Premium Collections Boxers And Undershirts Review

TotalSportsBlog 9 years ago 7 Min Read
Share

The great people at Fruit of the Loom sent me a bunch of boxers and undershirts from their new Premium Collection and asked me to review the new products for a post on TSB. What guy doesn’t need a great set of boxers and undershirts? Let’s do this.

For the quick review below, this is for the entire Premium Collections box of shirts and boxers I got. The package included a 5 pack of Select T-Shirts, 3 Pack of Sure-Fit Crew T-shirts, and a 3 pack of Sure Fit Knit Boxers.

QUICK REVIEW:
FEEL: A-
DURABILITY: B+
QUALITY: B+
COMFORT: B
VALUE: B+

Everything included in the package I received was in perfect condition. There were no holes or strings hanging off of the stitch lines. Nothing angers me more when buying underwear, than when I take them out of the package and in the arm pit of one of the t-shirts, a 3 inch long string is hanging, waiting to unravel part of the shirt. When taking everything out of the packages, the first thing that I immediately noticed was how soft everything was. Right off the bat you could tell these were quality.

Sure Fit Knit Boxers

I washed all 3 pairs of boxers a few times before wearing them to see if they looked any different from how they were right out of the package.  They were just as good as when I took them out the first time. The feel of the boxers are great. Super smooth and light weight. I haven’t worn boxers in a while because I’m a boxer brief kind of guy, so may have taken me a bit of time to get used to. The first time wearing them was on a 95 degree day and it almost felt like there was a bit of wicking technology incorporated into them, like an Under Armour shirt. I was kept pretty cool, and you know how important that is for a guy. My only real complaint is that the crotch sits a tad too low for my liking. I do tend to have this problem with pants or boxers due to my 28 1/2 inseam. But all in all, they were, and still are a very good product.

Select T-Shirts

These T-Shirts are exclusively sold at Target and retail for $18.99 – $20.99  for a 5 Pack

I’m the type of guy who wears a t-shirt under a polo or button down, 100% of the time. I’m glad I did receive my box of goodies when I did, because I had to wear a suit a few days later. I wore my 98% cotton, Select crew neck t-shirt underneath my lightweight and very thin dress shirt. It was another 95 degree day in Charlotte, and it was a good test to see how the t-shirt would feel on a super hot and muggy day. While walking around and baking in the sun, not a single drop of sweat went through my dress shirt. A very pleasant surprise. I thought for sure that this incredibly soft shirt was going to soak up any sweat that I had on me, and then pour right though onto my dress shit. But that didn’t happen. Big time points there. The other pleasant surprise was that the shirts seemed a little longer than my other t-shirts. So when I untucked the front of my polo, the t-shirt didn’t pop out underneath my polo. After 2 or 3 washes, the shirts still have that super soft feeling and have only shrank a tiny bit. If I wasn’t doing this review, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed.

Sure Fit Crew T-Shirts

These T-Shirts are exclusively sold at Walmart  and retail for $9.97 for a 4 Pack

The first thing I noticed when taking these shirts out of the package was that they were not the same quality as the Select brand. But that was OK. Some people just aren’t going to be dropping nearly $20 on a pack of t-shirts, and these t-shirts should be the ones you are looking for. The shirts are 60% Cotton / 40% Polyester, not 100 % cotton. They didn’t shrink at all when I washed them. The shirts were even longer, and bordering on too long, compared to the Select shirts. These undershirts fit a little tighter up on my chest than the Select. It didn’t really bother me, but as I was moving around during the course of the day it was definitely noticeable. My only real complaint about this shirt it that it was very thin. It didn’t really absorb too much sweat while I was outside in the heat playing with my daughter. The back of my polo had a decent amount of sweat showing through. I may have been nitpicking these ones a little too much, but after wearing the Select shirts first, it was going to be tough to meet those expectations. $9.97 is a great price for these shirts. For someone on a budget, or for someone who just can’t justify spending a lot of money on t-shirts, these are perfect.

Once again I would like to thank the great people at Fruit of the Loom for providing me with all of these great products. It’s very clear that Fruit of the Loom has kept the consumer in mind while trying to put out a great product. The Select brand is available now at Target, and the Sure Fit brand is now available at Walmart.
