Super Bowl 50’s Most Obscure Prop Bets

TotalSportsBlog 8 years ago 4 Min Read

he Carolina Panthers are a 5.5 point and -200 (bet $200 to win $100) favorite over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50, and rumors are the public thinks they’ll roll.  Anywhere from 70-80% of the money in Vegas is being bet on Cam Newton’s squad.  Maybe you don’t have a rooting interest in either team, though, and want a little more action on the game than your average box pool.  If that’s the case, some of these obscure prop bets are for you.

No matter who or what you’re betting on, it’s important to keep track of where your money is coming and going.  I ran across this website the other day, www.betbind.com, which is perfect for keeping your wagers in order.  Now without further ado, these are the most obscure prop bets you can actually place a bet on for the big game (our picks are in italics):

How many times will “dab” or “dabbing” be said by the announcers during the broadcast?

Over 2 Even

Under 2 -140

From kickoff to final whistle, halftime does not count towards wager.

(I think they’ll mention dabbing about 10 times)

camnewtondab

This one is a lock. Dab on ’em, Cam.

Will Mike Carey (the former NFL Referee and current “officiating expert” for CBS) be wrong about a challenge?

Yes +145

No -190

He must be consulted on live broadcast and must clearly take a stance on his position. If not consulted, wagers will be No Action.

(Mike Carey can be a moron but I think he’ll bring his A-game to the big game)

Will the Panthers player who scores their first TD give the football to a Boy or Girl?

Boy -200

Girl +150

(I don’t have kids, and if I did I’d love them dearly, but I wouldn’t be buying them endzone Super Bowl tickets no matter how much money I have. This one might be a no-payout)

How many million viewers with Super Bowl 50 have?

Over 117 million -120

Under 117 million -120

(the record is last year’s 114.4 million)

Which coach will be mentioned by name first after Kickoff?

Ron Rivera -120

Gary Kubiak -120

Will “Left Shark” make an appearance on stage during the halftime show?

Yes +1000

(there is no “No” prop for this bet. I still think it’s burning $100 if you’re a degenerate enough to bet on this)

leftshark

How many wings will Buffalo Wild Wings sell on Super Bowl Sunday?

Over 12 million -300

Under 12 million +200

Buffalo Wild Wings must make an official announcement which will be used as an official source.

How many times will Cam Newton do the Open Shirt Superman motion during the game?

Over 2.5 +200

Under 2.5 -300

Will there be an earthquake during the game?

Yes +1500

(there is no “No” prop for this bet. If you’re hell-bent on lighting $100 on fire, go with the left shark bet instead of this one)

All prop bet info comes from Bovada.lv

You can also bet on the color of Beyonce’s shoes, whether or not Peyton Manning will cry, and the color of the liquid (not saying gatorade makes it seem like it could be something gross) poured on the winning coach after the game.  So if you’re not into football and want to have some rooting interest on Sunday, have at it.
