Deciding he’d rather race than enjoy the last off weekend until November, Joey Logano was the lone Sprint Cup driver in the field for Sunday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.

The decision to race proved to be a good one for Logano, who captured the win in a rare Sunday race for the series.
Logano jumped into a late lead and held off three challengers to claim a 0.29 second victory over Penske Racing teammate, Sam Hornish, Jr., to capture his second NNS win of the season.

Austin Dillion, Elliot Sadler, and Brian Vickers round out the top five.
The series will return to the 1.5 tri-oval in September on the same weekend that the NASCAR Sprint Cup series Chase for the Sprint Cup begins.

Sunday’s race had six cauton flags–three off of the record of nine set in 2006.
The next race for the NASCAR Nationwide Series is Saturday, July 27th from Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race will be the first at the famed track.
