Uncut and Unbiased: Review of Jabra Sport Coach Wireless Headphones

TotalSportsBlog 7 years ago 5 Min Read
Share

While rededicating myself to the game of golf, I always wanted to listen to music while practicing. I’ve tried to feed my wired headphones through my shirt or over my back, but no matter what I do, the headphones either fall out or just annoy me to the point where I have to take them off.  With the help of eBay, I was able to get a free pair of Jabra Sport Coach Wireless Headphones into my ears and on the course for a review. I was very excited to do this and get some beats flowing while playing.  All opinions in this review are my own.

Quick Review:

Sound: B+

Comfort: B

Connectivity: D

App: B+

Value: C

Overall: C

Sound: B+

With wireless headphones, I wasn’t really expecting great sound quality, but the Jabra Sport Coach did deliver well. I tried all kinds of music ranging from EDM/Dubstep to Rock to Rap, and even some classical. I messed around with the multiple equalizer settings to get the sound I wanted. While the bass wasn’t as hard as I would have liked, it was sufficient.

Comfort: B

The biggest problem with earbuds/headphones these days is that they just never fit right. Jabra did a good job with including multiple bud sizes as well as earpieces. The left earbud fit just fine, but no matter what combination of earbud and ear piece that I tried, the right one just didn’t want to fit correctly. Even when I wasn’t swinging the golf club, it kept sliding out of my ear just enough that it would become annoying and sound quality would start to diminish. Again, it’s probably just my ear that is different that everyone else’s.

Connectivity: D

When using wireless headphones, the most important thing is the connectivity between your headphones and your device. Syncing the headphones with my iPhone was no problem at all. It was actually pretty darn easy. But the problem was that every 10 to 15 seconds, my music would skip. It sounded like when you are playing a CD in a car and you go over a bump. That split second where there’s no sound and then it comes back. I thought maybe it was because I was about 10 feet from my phone, but nothing changed when I put my phone in my back pocket. No matter if I was streaming with Pandora or playing music downloaded directly onto my iPhone, I was getting this annoying skipping. It’s a real shame because I was really enjoying the freedom of the wireless headphones, but it was just getting really annoying.

App: B+

Along with the headphones came the Jabra Sport app. If you are a runner or bike rider, this is a great app for you. I am not either of those two, but I did try it out to see how the app worked. It was cool that the app had a map feature in which you can track where you are running/biking. I know many people look for this feature in their GPS watches, and it’s definitely an added bonus to have this app for free with the headphones. You can look at previous runs and log their history to see how long it took for a particular distance, your speed, and how many calories you burned.

Value: C

I gave the Jabra Sport Coach wireless headphones a C mainly because of the connectivity issue I was having. The sound, comfort, and app were pretty darn good. But as stated before, the most important thing is that the music plays without a hitch. And that just didn’t happen for me.

Once again I would like to thank the good people at eBay for getting me a free pair of Jabra Sport Coach Wireless Headphones in exchange for an honest and objective review.
