The go-home edition of WWE SmackDown for SummerSlam premium live event featured the likes of Jey Uso competing with his brother Solo Sikoa a few hours before he faces the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The crowd’s favourite, LA Knight, competed in the show. The debut of a possible new faction and much more to get as we discuss everything happened on WWE SmackDown before SummerSlam.

LA Knight vs. Sheamus

The show kicked off with the hottest star LA Knight. He faced the Celtic Warrior Sheamus. This match was featured to hype up the fans for the upcoming Slim Jim Battle Royal at SummerSlam. It was a hard-hitting bout with the crowd eagerly behind Knight against the popular Sheamus. Other participants of the Battle Royal were on ringside, including AJ Styles, Grayson Waller and Karrion Kross. Sheamus hit ten Beats of Bodhran. In the end, there was chaos outside the ring. Styles and Kross ignited their feud. Austin Theory sneakily attacked Santos Escobar. In the ring, Knight took the advantage and hit Blunt Force Trauma for the win.

Winner: LA Knight

Grades: C

Analysis: –

It was a wise move to book LA Knight in the opener. His popularity is rising day by day. However, WWE could have booked a more powerful segment in the opening. Now, we have the Battle Royal at SummerSlam, where LA Knight is the possible contender to win.

Bobby Lashley and Street Profits return: Brawling Brutes vs. The OC

Next up was a match between Brawling Brutes and The OC. The match was good as far as it went, but the after-bell angle created a buzz. Bobby Lashley and Street Profits debuted as the heel faction, and the crowd was joyful to watch them back. A heel faction getting this much ovation was a treat to watch. The Street Profits destroyed everyone with their double team moves as Bobby Lashley was the InCharge of the attack. The segment ended with “Bobby” chants by those in attendance.

Winner: No Contest

Grades: B+

Analysis: –

It was brilliant for WWE to let this new faction return this way. They have options now to let them face The OC or The Brawling Brutes. It is sheer excitement to know the name of this new faction, if not The Hurt Business.

Jey Uso and Paul Heyman’s confrontation

Paul Heyman comes down to the ring to hype up the main event match between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso at SummerSlam. A brilliant video package was aired. Paul Heyman took a shot at the crowd early on to get the heat. Jey delivered a passionate promo with the crowd firmly behind him. Solo Sikoa arrived in fight mode, but Heyman cooled him down. Jey again tried to manipulate Solo and responded with a confused Sikoa. This awkward moment gave Jey the time, and he hit Solo with a superkick. He then told Heyman to face Reigns tomorrow, but he will face his brother tonight. The match was made official between Solo and Jey for later tonight.

Grades: B+

Analysis: –

It was a good segment. Jey has improved a lot on the mic. WWE showed that you must go through The Enforcer before The Tribal Chief.

Austin Theory vs Cameron Grimes

The US Champ Austin Theory faced Cameron Grimes. It felt like a filler on the show. Grimes hit The Cave early, followed by a near-fall as Theory broke the pin with his foot on the rope. Theory retained the Title in the end. Santos Escobar avenged the sneak attack and hit a Phantom Driver to lay down the champion to close the segment.

Winner: Austin Theory retains

Grades: C-

Analysis: –

Austin Theory needs something new with his character. His reign is fading now. On the other hand, Cameron Grimes has yet to get a great start on the main roster. The next stop for the US Title will be the match between Austin Theory and Santos Escobar.

The Grayson Waller Effect and Sky vs Vega

The Grayson Waller segment always delivered; the same goes for this week’s SmackDown. Waller invited Bayley and Iyo Sky as his special guests. However, Shotzi returned and chased Bayley backstage, which left Iyo Sky in the ring. The first lady of LWO entered the frame and challenged Genius of the Sky to a match which she accepted. The match was good as both competitors were excellent performers. The finish was not clean because Shotzi and Bayley returned to the arena to distract Sky, and Zelina Vega pinned her for the win.

Winner: Zelina Vega Wins

Grades: B

Analysis: –

WWE gave Vega an excellent opportunity to stay alive with her underdog story as she beat the Money in the Bank winner. It is now up to WWE if they want to use Sky’s Money in the Bank on Summerslam weekend against the winner of Charlotte, Asuka, and Bianca. WWE changed the whole character of Shotzi, which is a welcome sign. Bayley is a superstar to work with, so Shotzi will surely benefit from this fresh feud.

Jey Uso vs Solo Sikoa One on One Match

The Bloodline tried to damage Jey Uso as much as possible to avoid the Tribal Chief’s loss at the WWE Summerslam. The Powerhouse of the Bloodline hit his brother with all he had in his arsenal. However, USO was not the one who would ever lose this match, especially the night before the Main event of WWE Summerslam. Jey Uso used the move of Tribal Chief Roman Reigns to Solo Sikoa to pin him. Jey Uso has all the momentum with him coming into the bout and took more momentum after beating Solo Sikoa in this match.

Winner: Jey Uso Wins

Grades: B+

Analysis: –

WWE provided us with another spectacular main event of WWE Smackdown. Jey Uso was the right man at the right place to dethrone Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. He defeated his brother, who was an unstoppable force in the Bloodline. The good thing is that WWE again booked this story firmly because Uso defeated Sikoa using the spear. It will give him a significant advantage over Roman Reigns. Roman must feel the danger of Uso because he used Roman’s moves to win this match. Overall, the WWE Summerslam main event will be an enormous draw that will either finish the Bloodline storyline or enter into a whole new phase.
