WWE SummerSlam 2023 Match Card, Predictions, and Surprise Returns

The Biggest Party of Summer is almost upon us. WWE SummerSlam will be live on August 5 from Ford Field, Detroit. It is one of the four biggest WWE Premium live events. It will set the tone for the upcoming months in WWE. There will be memorable title matches, long story endings, twists, and maybe surprise returns. Fans are excited for every match, especially the “Tribal Combat” between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso.

SummerSlam Battle Royal

WWE has announced a battle royal for SummerSlam. WWE is probably doing this to have several superstars compete on the big stage. There is no pride or prize on the line. The most notable participant in this match will be LA Knight, and he will be the possible and deserving winner.

Winner Prediction: LA Knight

Gunther vs. Drew McIntyre

Gunther will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Drew McIntyre. Gunther is on a historic reign and seems unbeatable. On the other hand, Drew Mclntyre returned to Money in the Bank to challenge Gunther. It will be an intense bout, and it may be the best wrestling match of the night. Gunther is nearing the day of becoming the longest-reigning WWE IC Champ. Hence, according to our prediction, he should retain here and achieve that feat.

Winner Prediction: Gunther retains.

Shayna Baszler vs. Ronda Rousey

Best friends turned enemies Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler will face off in a “MMA Rules” match. The stipulation seems perfect for both competitors. We are currently unaware of what to expect from this unique stipulation. Baszler turned on Rousey at Money in the Bank. The interesting thing here is that crowd is firmly behind Baszler regardless of her doing the heel work. Reports say that Rousey is on her way out of WWE, and this might be her last match. It will be wise to let the Queen of Spades beat the Baddest Woman on the Planet and move on to the next one with momentum.

Winner Prediction: Shayna Baszler wins.

Logan Paul vs. Ricochet

The build to this match began back at Royal Rumble, where the two created a memorable spot with a double springboard crossbody. Then at Money in the Bank, a spot of Spanish Fly on the table was botched, which led to this match. Ricochet is in a high profile angle after a long time. But, this will not end well for him, too, as our prediction for this match will be the social media megastar. Logan Paul’s last win came a year ago at SummerSlam 2022. Since then, he has lost four matches, and WWE will use this match to give him the momentum he needs.

Winner Prediction: Logan Paul wins.

Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes

Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes trilogy will be completed at SummerSlam, with both having a win in their previous matches. WWE should give a satisfying finish in this game. It is disappointing that WWE has not announced a stipulation for this match. Cody is rumored to be on a track where he finally faces Roman Reigns again at WrestleMania 40 main event for the second time in a row. Hence, our winner will be Cody Rhodes.

Winner Prediction: Cody Rhodes wins.

Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair

Asuka will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair. It is the only Women’s Title match at SummerSlam, with Rhea Ripley’s match in jeopardy. Charlotte has a history of winning titles at big stages, and there will be no surprise if she does that again. However, according to our prediction, Asuka will remain here. Bianca and Charlotte will go on to their singles feud. Bayley and Iyo Sky can play a key role in this match, and you cannot rule out the possibility of Sky cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase.

Winner Prediction: Asuka retains.

Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor

Seth Rollins will defend her World Heavyweight Title against Finn Balor in a match with seven years of long story behind it. It is a very interesting matchup. Rollins has just won the Title. Judgment Day is so hot these days. Damian Priest has the Money in the Bank briefcase. Countless match finishes will create a lot of buzz. We have seen tensions between Balor and Priest. We are going with a very bold pick heading into this match. Damian Priest will help Finn Balor get the win just to cash in on her for the Title.

Winner Prediction: Finn Balor beats Seth Rollins. Damian Priest cashes in and wins the Title.

Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso

The “Tribal Combat” will be in the main event, with Roman Reigns defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Jey Uso. Interestingly, the Tribal Chief moniker is on the line, and if Jey wins, he has the Title and will be the new Tribal Chief. This story began three years ago when Jey stepped up to Roman as his historic Universal Title reign began. Jey Uso pinned Roman at Money in the Bank for the first time in almost three years, and most people consider him the one to dethrone Roman Reigns finally. However, this is not going to happen according to our prediction. Roman Reigns will beat Jey Uso in one of the most dramatic match finishes ever.

 Winner Prediction: Roman Reigns retains.

Surprise Returns

Now, let’s talk about the surprise returns that can happen at this premium live event. First of all, there may be a segment of Grayson Waller Effect with an interesting surprise guest. The Undertaker and Glorious Bobby Roode will be in Detroit during SummerSlam weekend. Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt are expected to make their surprise returns. Either of these could return in the main event or probably Cody vs. Brock match. There is very little chance of The Rock’s appearance in some fashion, maybe in the Tribal Combat. Other Anoa’i family members like Rikishi are also rumored to be involved in some capacity in the Tribal Combat. One thing is for sure this event will make headlines once it’s over and will go down in history as one of the best WWE premium live events of the modern era.
