Thanks to Kellogg’s I had the chance to speak with NBA All-Star and Chicago Bulls player Jimmy Butler the other day.  Jimmy is participating in the Buckets for Breakfast campaign, where Kellogg’s is encouraging everyone to show off their trick shots to fight childhood hunger.  I asked Jimmy some hard-hitting questions, and he didn’t pull any punches.   Read the rest of this entry »

If you’ve been following TSB, you’re sure to have seen a few of my reviews for different types of kinesiology therapy tape.  Last week I had a chance to talk to Team USA member Dotsie Bausch, one of the most accomplished athletes in women’s cycling about her cycling career and SpiderTech pre-cut elastic sports tape.  Dotsie uses the tape to alleviate some of the aches and pains a cyclist experiences while training.  Check out my Q&A with Dotsie and some info about SpiderTech sports tape after the jump. Thanks to the good people at Gillette, I had a chance to interview ESPN Sport’s Science host John Brenkus. Brenkus seemed like a cool guy, and it was obvious that he loves his job.

Check out this exclusive Total Sports Blog interview with that man that loves sports, AND science.

Mike Lucas: “What’s up guys this is Mike Lucas from Total Sports Blog. On the line today we have John Brenkus, the host of ESPN’s Sport Science. We want to thank the good people at Gillette for setting this up. How are you doing today John?”

John Brenkus: “I’m doing good Mike how about yourself?”

ML: “I’m doing good. Let’s get started. So you’ve teamed up with Gillette to launch the all new Precision Play of the Week Activation on Facebook, can you tell us a little about that?”

JB: “In shaving and in sport, precision makes the difference, and I’m here to help Gillette show that difference to the world. To give fans the chance to test their own precision when it comes to football, Gillette is launching a “Precision Play of the Week” trivia game on Facebook, where I will provide a scientific breakdown of one of the prior week’s best plays. Fans will be invited to answer a question related to the play for the chance to win various prizes, with the grand prize being a trip to Super Bowl XLVIII in New York. Read the rest of this entry »

Hasn’t Kanye West learned to proofread his tweets? After Jimmy Kimmel parodied his recent interview with BBC 1, Kanye went absolutely bonkers. Kimmel didn’t really make fun of him as much as he just repeated what he said, because it was pretty hysterical on its own. Below is one of the pictures tweeted by Kanye, and check out the full video and tweets after the jump.

I had the great opportunity to personally get in touch with NFL Running Back for the St. Louis Rams, Daryl Richardson. Not only is Richardson one of the primer young halfbacks in the league, but also a humanitarian who is heavily involved in the community. The Abilene Christian University 2012 7th-round draft pick turned NFL starter is destined for great things–phenomenal talent and karma on his side. D-Rich was kind enough to provide Total Sports Blog with an exclusive interview that discusses his challenges, teammates, and outlook on the 2013 season.

Thanks to the people at Gillette, I had the opportunity to interview the Cincinnati Bengals’ running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis aka the Law Firm earlier this week. I asked him some hard-hitting questions, including what his thoughts were when the Bengals were the first team to draft a running back in 2013, what it felt like to lose to the New York Giants in the Super Bowl, and more. Check out the 10 minute interview after the jump:

In what is the most bizarre story that I have read about in a long time, Dennis Rodman visited North Korea last week. He was invited by North Korea’s crazy leader Kim Jong Eun. Rodman is the only American known to ever spend a significant amount of time with Kim.

Wrestling, whether it is amateur or professional, is a BIG deal throughout the Midwest. Pro wrestling fans have their favorites. I also have a few favorites of my own.  My list of favorites include: The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam, Jerry Lynn and Darin Corbin.  You might be asking, “who is Darin Corbin?”  For those of you not familiar with the many independent pro wrestling promotions throughout the country, you are missing out!  Corbin has had a successful career working his way through the ranks.  Corbin is well traveled, but is best known for his work with 3xwrestling, Midwest Pro Wrestling, and St. Louis Anarchy promotions along with many others.  Corbin is highly respected for his mat work and mic skills.  I promise you if you take the time to check out his work you’ll have reason to follow independent wrestling!  Cheer or booo…your still cheering! Millions of young people aspire to become professional athletes, yet very few ever realize that dream.  Only 3% of high school football players make the transition to NCAA football while a meager 0.08%  make it to the pros.  We asked AFL CB Joe Lopez of the Cleveland Gladiators a few questions about his ongoing experience with professional football.

Hook:  Tell us a little bit about your background, where are you from?

Joe: Well I’m from Port Jefferson Station NY.  Its a nice size town on Long Island.  Lived here all my life.  Parents moved here from the city to make a better life for my sister and I and it has worked out very well for everyone. Read the rest of this entry »
