NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver, Travis Kvapil, has been arrested and charged with assault on his wife and false imprisonment according to an WCNC-TV reporter.

Mooresville Police arrest the BK Racing driver on Tuesday night.

In a press release from the MPD, officers responded to Kvapil’s house following a 911 call.

He has seen been released on bond.

Kvapil, who drives for BK Racing, currently ranks 27th in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup standings. He has one victory this season.

Kvapil has been racing full-time in the Sprint Cup series since 2006, and won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship in 2003.

BK Racing is supporting Domestic Violence Awareness Month and tweeted a photo photos of their cars this weekend. Since the arrest of Kvapil, those photos have seen been removed from social media.

A representative from BK Racing said the team has “no comment at this time” on Kvapil’s arrest.

NASCAR has released a statement regarding the incident. “NASCAR does not condone the actions with which Travis Kvapil has been charged and we are disappointed to learn of this incident. We have been in close communication with the race team and are in the process of gathering as much information as possible. NASCAR takes this matter very seriously and will continue to monitor the situation as it moves forward.”
