WWE Monday Night Raw 4/28 Recap, Reactions

Last night’s Monday Night RAW was pretty decent overall, as the go-home show with Extreme Rules coming up this Sunday. Raw opened with what will easily be one of the top 10 moments on Raw this year with Bray Wyatt and an entire chorus of children singing “He’s got the whole world in his hands” to John Cena. We also had a tag team title match, the finals of the Intercontinental Title Tournament, a final Daniel Bryan/Kane buildup, and the final buildup between the Shield and Evolution that included the return of Ric Flair.

Quick results:

The Usos retained the tag titles vs. Rybaxel via pinfall

Sheamus defeated Titus O’Neil via pinfall

Cesaro defeated Jack Swagger via pinfall

Alberto Del Rio defeated Cody Rhodes via submission

Alexander Rusev defeated Xavier Woods via disqualification after interference from R-Truth

Heath Slater & Drew Mcintyre defeated Los Matadores via pinfall

Brie Bella vs. Paige ended in a no contest after Kane tried to pull Brie down into the ring

Bad News Barrett defeated RVD via pinfall after Jack Swagger distracted RVD

Roman Reigns ended in a no contest after Reigns attacked Triple H & Batista outside the ring during the match

Reactions:

The opening segment was phenomenal of Bray Wyatt and all the children interrupting John Cena’s promo. It’s interesting how WWE seems to be hinting at a Cena heel turn with him complaining about the audience turning on him last week by voting for the 3 on 1 match. But Cena complaining about having no chance last week is kind of stupid considering he had the match won before Rowan and Harper interfered. Although Cena never will turn heel, it is good for his character and helps put over Bray Wyatt. The sheep masks the children were wearing at the end was the icing on the cake to ending this great segment.

Titus O’Neil attacked Sheamus during his entrance and was ended up being squashed in one minute because ????

The Hugh Jackman segment was an awful flashback to how cringeworthy the Raw guest hosts for an entire year were. Some people seemed to enjoy Damien Sandow interrupting as Magneto but in my opinion, that’s when the segment became officially brutal.

The first time Renee Young went to interview John Cena backstage came off great with Cena’s jimmies obviously being rustled.

It’s frustrating that they waited until now to break up Cody Rhodes and Goldust. Why couldn’t they have done this a month earlier and given them a match at Wrestlemania that both have been outspoken about as they clearly want?

Hornswoggle vs. El Torito on the Extreme Rules pre-show being hyped as a “Wee LC” match. No comment.

The segment with Bryan, Brie, and Steph Mcmahon leading to Steph giving Brie the title match was good considering it gave us this gif:

You’d have to imagine a triple threat match between Cesaro, Swagger, and RVD is going to be announced for Extreme Rules.

Having that last Cena promo was such a waste of what had happened in the first 2 hours of the show. They should’ve let it be instead of giving him this last “Supercena” promo backstage before the match Sunday.

A 3 on 1 handicap match was announced for Smackdown with Dean Ambrose defending the title vs. Rybaxel and Alberto Del Rio. It wouldn’t be a shock to anyone if Ambrose drops the title here.

Ric Flair coming out and backing the Shield was a good idea but horribly executed. It came off awkward happening before the match and why not just have Flair cost Orton the match to end the show? I don’t think they could’ve possibly wasted a Ric Flair appearance worse than they did.

Raw ends with The Shield on top which means Evolution most likely wins Sunday
