ankle

In the first fight of tonight’s pay per view portion of UFC 173, Jamie Varner broke his ankle early in the first round by trying to block a kick from James Krause.  If you are queasy with these types of things, maybe you shouldn’t click the link.  But if you are curious ho Varner managed to finish out the round, check it out.

Gareth Bale and Real Madrid capture their 10th Champions League Title in dramatic fashion.

Gareth Bale and Real Madrid capture their 10th Champions League Title in dramatic fashion.

Story by Jordan Burnett

A local derby took place in Libson today. For the first time in Champions League history, the final two teams were from the same city. Atlético Madrid as David, versus Real Madrid; Goliath.

Atlético was riding a wave of confidence into the match. A week ago they mustered a draw against Barcelona to win the La Liga title. Atlético became the only other club besides Barcelona and Real Madrid to win La Liga in over a decade. They were hoping to finish off the slaying of Spain’s two-headed football monster by winning their first UEFA Champions League title. Although, it’s never a good sign when your star striker has to be rubbed down with horse placenta just to make the starting XI, but we’ll get to that.

Somebody say time travel?

Somebody say time travel?

I saw X-Men: Days Of Future Past last night (I hope that’s the last time I have to write out the whole title).  The film is the first comic book movie to use time travel so I guess that’s some sort of milestone that geeks everywhere should be proud of. I thought the movie was great although I didn’t think it was as good as “X-Men: First Class” and actually have a fair amount of complaints about it.  I loved “X-Men: First Class” and “X-Men 2” This film might go right behind them ranking wise although I haven’t seen X 2 in ages so I should probably rewatch so I can better judge the quality of these films because that is what’s important in life.  (Oh yeah, minor spoilers ahead)

Taking a break from Physical Therapy related articles (due to article access issues…), I will be focusing on the World Cup, which will take over my life for the next 30-60 days. Having said that, Jurgen Klinsmann made his 23-man roster available to the press after prior stating he would hold off until June 2nd (the FIFA deadline for 23-man provisional World Cup rosters). As the news blasted all over the internets, many USMNT fans (educated and bandwagoner alike) were left flabbergasted after the announced cuts.

oh, jurgen.

In tonight’s episode of MTV’s The Challenge Free Agents, the title of the episode, “Pride Before The Wall” could never have been more true.  Without giving away any spoilers too early…we obviously start off with Jordan and Laurel kissing in the pool as everyone talks about how arrogant Jordan is.  Especially Bananas.  Blah blah blah, yes we know.  Then Bananas gives us another quality, way below the belt quote as he’s rehashing something from last season, “The only mysterious thing about you is your four missing fingers”.  I lose more and more respect for Bananas as the weeks go on.

Stache Radio TSB Radio

Our New York Mets podcast Stache Radio, was back after a ten game hiatus. Kevin made his return to the air waves with Earl, Jon, and Matt, as they hit on a bunch of topics. The topics included: If Terry Collins was fired, who should replace him? Rafael Montero and Jacob deGrom’s major league debuts. What did everyone make of the #FreeLagares movement? And a recap of the last 10 games/preview of the next 3 series.

Special thanks to a first time caller, long time listener @BlueChill1123 for checking in with us.

Children grow up with a lot of trauma nowadays. I mean, we do live in an age where “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and “Teen Mom” are both hit shows. The sad thing is that both of those shows are about exactly what I’m talking about. The 7th episode of the 4th season of Game of Thrones deals with the trauma that many of the characters on the show have faced as children or about to and how they are dealing. Except for Brienne and Pod. They’re still looking for those dang Stark kids.  Read the rest of this entry »

Gillette-Fusion-ProGlide-Manual-Razor-With-FlexBall-Technology

I want to start out this article by informing you that I am NOT a clean shaven guy. I haven’t been in years and nor do I plan to be, ever. I hate the feeling of a clean shaven face and I equally dislike the process of having to look that way. I tend to have scruff or a beard year round but as the summer is nearing, I decided to try a new look for the first time. When given the opportunity (Thanks to everybody at Gillette!) to get a razor to test out, I jumped, and quick. Read the rest of this entry »
