AAA Texas 500Jimmie Johnson entered Sunday afternoon’s AAA 500 from Texas Motor Speedway having yet to win on a 1.5 mile speedway this season, one of the most common types of tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule.

Problem resolved.

The five-time champion dominated. Johnson led 255 of the 334 laps for his sixth victory of the season.  Read the rest of this entry »

3BRD_rgbsox1You had to know it was coming. It was just a matter of when. Yes, with all the bonding with bearding the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox had, the question was, when would they shave them off.

Yes, the beards have becoming iconic to the point of having nicknames. Dustin Pedroia’s beard was named “The Sick Flow”, while Jonny Gomes had “The Ironsides”, and David Ortiz had “The Tease.” The question many fans were asking, was would be would first on the team to shave it off.

mavs-photoIf you haven’t seen the Ylvis music video for “The Fox,” you’re missing out.

But after seeing the Dallas Maverick’s parody version “What the Mavs say,” then you’ve more than made up for it.

You almost have to feel a little bad guys like Vince Carter and Shawn Marion, who have 29 years of NBA experience between them, and are now reduced to participating in parodies of music videos.

The big game in college football this weekend is in Tallahassee, Florida. The University of Miami Hurricanes will take on the Florida State Seminoles at 7 PM. This is a huge game for both teams. If Miami wins, the whole nation will now take them seriously. If Florida State wins, they make their case for being in the National Championship game even stronger.

nascar_nscs_pole_award_carl_edwards_110113With a qualifying lap of 27.535 seconds, 196.114 mph, Carl Edwards has captured the Coors Light Pole Award for the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

While Edwards is in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, he has not been a contender for the championship; but, he could possibly be a contender for the win on Sunday.
