Huge Week 9 as many favorites fell, leaving newcomers to rise and thrive in college football glory. Going 12-7 Week 9, I was a little bold on my underdog picks. I underestimated the shear strength of Notre Dame and overestimated the power of Florida, hands down. Kansas State, Oregon, and Notre Dame are the only teams that deserve to be in discussion for playing against Alabama (as of right now) for the National Championship. Week 10 leaves a more conservative approach as I don’t see many upsets happening, but some shakeups in the future BCS rankings. Dynastys still alive and well.

Teams noted in BOLD are my picks for the week

Half of the NFL football season is over and I am starting to see teams separate themselves fro the rest of the league. Every year I make my final four prediction half way through the season. (6-0 picking AFC and NFC championships since 2009). The famous quote was “defense wins championships” but not in today’s flag football league. Defenses are not intimidating anymore as they are not allowed to hit like the old days. The soon to be new quote (which the NFL loves) “offense wins championships.” My football mother is going to hate to read that one, as she is from the old school and loves hard nose football. She used to say “if you can’t take the hit, you shouldn’t be out there playing.” The league has evolved and you must have success throwing to compete. My final four teams all consist of our leagues top passers. We very well could see a Super Bowl Manning vs Manning! If so we can finally stop the talks of who is the best Manning.

Jimmie Johnson celebrates with the checkered flag after winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway on October 28, 2012 in Ridgeway, Virginia.

Three races to go until NASCAR crowns a champion. It’s all come down to the driver from Rochester Hills, Michigan or the five-time champion from El Cajon, California, and with the way both drivers have been competing in this 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup we may not know until the final lap in Homestead-Miami.

On Sunday, Jimmie Johnson proved he is ready for another championship as he won his fourth race of the season at Martinsville Speedway. Johnson led 193 laps to become the points leader, just two points ahead of second place, Brad Keselowski. This was also the first race back for Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who missed the last two weeks after suffering a concussion at Talladega Speedway earlier this month. Read the rest of this entry »

He’s back!

On Sunday, Jimmie Johnson held off Kyle Busch with five laps to go to win his seventh grandfather clock, a prize given to the winner at Martinsville Speedway, and take the season points lead by two points with three races to go.

“I’m ecstatic about the win today. I’m ecstatic about the points lead,” Johnson said. “But this is no cakewalk.” Read the rest of this entry »

On the field for game 2 of the World Series

It’s almost impossible to describe the last 48 hours of my life, as one of my life long dreams have come true.  After game one of the World Series, we had gone to dinner with the Detroit Tigers infield coach Rafael Belliard, for his birthday, at The House of Prime Rib in San Francisco.  While waiting for our table, we started talking about our experience at the Detroit Tigers World Series game 1.  I became teary eyed and almost started to cry! 13Samantha Ponder

That article headline is a mouthful, but there’s no better way to describe ESPN sideline reporter Samantha Steele, who is currently dating Minnesota QB Christian Ponder.  The heir apparent to Erin Andrews as the hottest sports personality on ESPN, Samantha Steele recently took over as the Thursday Night Football go-to-girl.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Ponder locks this one up.  She’s straight wifey material.

This will be the second Total Sports Babes post in a row where I don’t include photos of the headline girl scantily clad in promiscuous poses.  Well, you know what you perverts?  Chicks can still be hot with all of their clothes on.  Check out Samantha Steele in some more totally safe-for-work photos here: Read the rest of this entry »

Three races to go until the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crowns a champion and with a very close points race, it could be decided on the final lap at Homestead-Miami Speedway. This NASCAR season sure has flown by.

Instead of talking Homestead in a few weeks, let’s concentrate on this weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway. Read the rest of this entry »
